A sound library? Well, there are A LOT of different sound libraries, I don't really know which library was used in the original source code, because it was written for MS-DOS and that's old, my suggestion?? to download a windows port source code, which will save you from a lot of problems to compile and find libraries (most of the existent source ports use DirectX which is found at the M$ page), but that's just my suggestion, the other one is that you could write the name of the library and then it will be easier to find it.

Okay, I installed DirectX, now what source port do you guys reccommend for Hexen/Heretic? Perl, Python, java/c++, or whatever it is they're called? remember im an uneducated moron who doesn't spend the entire day in front of the computer learning everything there is to know about it. I was trying to work with the Doom3 source but I kept having trouble compiling that too (as in I couldn't) even though I read the tutorials to the closest degree and had and did everything they said I needed. All I did was make half of a cheesy map with cool music. I think the world hates me =(

Well, the hexen/heretic source is written in C/C++ so there's no choice to that. Now that I think on it, if you can download the Vavoom progs source you won't have to mess with much stuff, like libraries, the thing with Vavoom is that you can modify the progs without having to use a C compiler, it has it's own compiler and the language is powerfull enough to let you change most of the stuff in the game easily, also, there's some documentation on the basic functions and language structure in the Vavoom's Homepage. Now, if you ask me where to start I would say to download and decompress the progs source and then read the documentation there and once you understand most of it, you can start with some easy change to the game <!-- s:) --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_smile.gif" alt=":)" title="Smile" /><!-- s:) -->.
