VaVoom help

well it seems whenever I use VaVoom like KA or just try it instead of (g)zdoom I always end up with errors up the bum. like 2 times already I've tried the new KA and got booted once with no error and vavoom still showed running in the toolbar not responding and now I got some Segmentation Violation error thingy. I have a Dell Latitude C610 laptop with the latest drivers that show up as Radeon 7000 SW TCL X86/SSE on all my opengl games and 16MB of Installed Video memory if the research I've done is correct. I have tried VaVoom with all dynamic lights off and such to try to cut down on quality to not crash but I got that Segmentation Violation that i mentioned earlier. I would like to know: What, if anything I can do to better my performance or if it is just my laptop and I'm SOL.

You could try running it in software mode, if you haven't already. I'm afraid I don't really understand your errors, perhaps you can post the error here? Other than that I'd just try to turn everything down and hope it works. I can't imagine my computer is much better than those laptop specs, I just run it in software with 640x480 res and it runs fairly smoothly.

Have you tried downloading the recent released 1.0.1 patch? I suspect that could be the problem, I'll share the download link here: [url:3j0o2mc9]http://downloads.sourceforge.net/Korax/ka_patch_1_0_1.zip EDIT: Forgot to say this too, make sure that the launcher has marked the "create debug file" check box, then run the game, when it crashes it will have made some output in a debug.txt file inside the 'basev' folder, please post the contents of it here, so we can review what's wrong, thanks for reporting the problem! Hope this can be useful for you <!-- s:) --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/orc2.gif" alt=":)" title="Smile" /><!-- s:) --> .

Ugh, I wrote that 2 times already, please, when you are going to report some bugs read this thread with description how to post bug report: <!-- m --><a class="postlink" href="http://vavoom-engine.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=1281">http://vavoom-engine.com/forums/viewtop ... f=1&t=1281</a><!-- m --> otherwise we just won't be able to understand your problem. And ofcourse check any latest patches: <!-- l --><a class="postlink-local" href="http://korax-heritage.com/board/viewtopic.php?f=23&t=2043">viewtopic.php?f=23&t=2043</a><!-- l --> Also, can I ask you to post all bugs you met in the same thread as mentioned above; it was created especially for that purpose ("KA 1.0 status and bug reports"). If you have problems not with KA, but with Vavoom running common games (Doom/Hereitc/Hexen/Strife) you better post that on Vavoom forum: <!-- m --><a class="postlink" href="http://vavoom-engine.com/forums/viewforum.php?f=1">http://vavoom-engine.com/forums/viewforum.php?f=1</a><!-- m -->

hmm seems to be working better now but when i mentioned i got these errors i also got them in the past with previous KA versions when they came out so i was more or less wondering if it was vavoom not the specific version at the time also i play in opengl with 32 bit color if that helps

Hmm, so, what are those errors exactly? You mentioned there could be crashes without any error messages or Segmentation violation ones; which ones usually happen now? Approximately in which situations do they happen? Did you run in debug mode? Were there any debug log? Have you tried running with other renderers than opengl?
