Tomb raider ripping Heretic off?

So, today I started playing Heretic with the sound effects on for the first time. I was going through a level in the domes when I heard a familiar sound. Turns out that the sound from the sabreclaws is the same sound from a weird monster in TR4. Additionally, the sound from when the ethereal arrows hit something is used for a projectile crash in TR3.

If you'd have played Warcraft II, you'd know the sabreclaw "challenge cry" as the "dragon cry". AFAIK sound studios create sound libraries and sell these to game makers - I've heard quite a couple of game sounds in several games.

What's your point?

That I agree with you word for word, silly! (In other forums I've seen people state they agree with somebody by simply quoting them without any comments.)

Yep, the morons. Quoting text just for quoting is waste of screen space and bandwidth IMO.

Well I think it's efficient: saves me time too cause I don't have to come up with any creative prose and shit.

Ok, that quite explains it.

The most obvious sounds being the opening and closing sfx of metal doors, like in the Alien movies.

Well, when I open doors in my apartment, they all sound a bit like ones in my friends' apartment, I wonder what could it mean... lazy sound designers maybe.

lol i occasionally hear the doom door open and close sound on a tv show, maybe the sound designers wanted to go 'old school'

There are alot of freeware sounds available all over the place, that just be one of them, there are a storm of sound effects from Dungeon Keeper that people rip off and put them in movies.
