I just checked the team page on the Scattered Evil site, and I saw so many names I've either never heard from or haven't heard from in ages. So are Camper, LevelKiller, Kendrome, Sylon and The Cush out of the team? -Remi

Camper: Well I asked him explicitly a couple of days ago and he said he's still in, though he didn't do anything since last February (OK, OTOH he didn't do anything between last July and this January and then suddenly he made the 2.1 patch when you disappeared). Levelkiller: He never really was part of the team, we agreed upon him making a couple of Hexen maps to have more dungeons... he made a lava caves map, sent me a screenshot, then compressed the wadfile with a utility from which he found out later on it was for DOOM only (I guessed something's wrong when he sent me a 5 KBs or so map file), and since he didn't have any backups of it, the map was lost forever. Afterwards he never finished up any other map for us. He disappeared pretty much from the whole Heretic/Hexen scene in the meantime. Anyway, I've got 4 or 5 Heretic maps from him which he created in previous years and gave his explicit permission to the Korax team to use them in any way we want. Camper started to write a conversion program for these maps, but it still needs someone who creates a text file with a complete listing of all textures from Heretic and their Hexen counterparts. Once this conversion is done, we've got nearly half a dozen quality maps for SE. Kendrome: if you check these forums, you can tell pretty exactly when he disappeared. After that, I dropped him a mail when we had that GDC interview. He told me I should just send him the Qs, he'll answer them right away. I sent thim the Qs, asked him a couple of days how far he got, then sent him a last mail a week or so later telling him I've got the deadline with GDC and if he doesn't send me the answers by next day, I won't be able to wait any longer. He never answered either one of those mails. Sylon: He never was the social type... we had some contact, he made a couple of custom graphics like windows and the innkeeper, then one day he sent me ~30 wall and floor/ceiling textures, and that was it. Nowadays he doesn't even want to talk to anyone from the team any more (Mago knows about it)... The Cush: Along with Kendrome, he's proof that not even the fact that I demand from everyone a debut work before accepting him into the team is enough to ensecure we've got members who actually do something. He sent me one of his short stories as sample, then I made him write up something for Korax' Heritage, he wrote a page or 2, then a couple of months later another half a page, and I haven't heard from him for a year or so now... The Voice: you completely forgot him, it seems. He was another storywriter. He got very excited in the beginning and wrote an interesting plot draft for The Serpent Power. 2 days later he told me he gets out becuz he doesn't like the mentality of the team where people are just members and don't do anything (at that time, the team consisted officially of The Cush, Kendrome, Camper and me, the first 2 doing nothing at all). I told him if he goes away, that won't make the team any better, so he told me to remain. If you check the oldest postings in the devforum, you'll see a couple of threads he participated in. Then a week or 2 later he just dropped out and never came back. I think I've covered everyone on the team except for the active members. While this all sounds pretty bad, it's a lot better, I mean we've got now 4 members who seem to be dedicated enough to the project to stay on it and see it to completion. Janis is a very good catch, not only did he help us out with coding when all other programmers were somewhere else, he's also managing the wad structure and the stuff in it, which was a big prob for me (KMOD 2.1 had nearly 20 more files in the gamedir than KMOD 2.2 will have), not to mention other tasks by the dozen... Mago did an insane work with all those graphics, he did already more artwork than all other members together (though next month I'll try to usurp him, churning out new wall textures by the dozens ). And from you I don't even have to elaborate, I mean everybody knows who created the whole codebased separating KMOD 1.1 from 2.0...

Ah, thanks for the info... although it made me realize this team is cursed with the team-members-vanishing-into-thin-air-curse . Too bad Levelkiller went away, it seems that mappers is the most important thing we need right now. -Remi

Especially that I as only level designer have so little time... I'm half a mind to just dump this whole web operation, kick off 95% of the hosted sites and keep only the Korax, Vavoom and RavenGames sites (along with the old RavenGames hosted sites). *Then* I'd have a LOT OF time for level design... <sigh>
