Strife

Does anybody know if anyone ever remade strife or made a mod. I know they didn't release the source but people can always find a way. Hopefully someone will use a new engine and make a new version. The oblivion engine would be awesome or maybe even the fable engine.

AFAIK there aren't any MODs for Strife, there are several modern source ports that already support Strife as a playable game (Vavoom and ZDoom are the ones ). I think I remember there were some maps out there, I'll try to look for the URLs and post them here .

I only know of one map for Strife, uploaded to the archives sometime last year I think.

Here is a link to some strfe maps you can grab. http://www.doomworld.com/idgames/index. ... ls/strife/

Someone should use HL2 port or Doom3 port and make new everything to match strife. Redo everything and make strife with a better engine.

Why always redo old games? Won't be it better to create a new game of the same scenario & enviroment quality?

It would be nice to find people to do such a thing, but I haven't. Once I get further along in school I'll probably know enough to start something up but as of now I only know aCC C++ in unix environment and actionscript and don't have any one around who's interested in games. You won't believe how many dick head IT guys work at MTSU who are only interested in database managment and have no interest in their major, nor do they find programming fun. It's hard to talk to those bastards when I have to use a shitty debugger.

Brrrr... I hate databases . Made couple of medium-sized database applications when studied in university and then understood that it is absolutely not mine area of interest (Although I understand that DBs are very important nowadays).

Yeh, this dickhead in the labs was discussing programming with me and I brought up how I wanted to do sound, which is what I've ben doing for years and was majoring in, or program user interfaces for a small company. His reply was, with a "You're an idiot" look on his face, "databases is what we do" . Come to find out this whole time he was using the word database as a term for any compiled or record "data". What an asshole. Maybe I'm retarded and don't know all the "proper terms" yet, but you obviously picked up on exactly what I meant, meaning that lab assistant sucks balls.

Actually, I've been doing more and more research about this game (I never knew very much about it) and it sounds really fascinating. Any chance of it being open source? If not then I can always Amazon it.

[quote="Firebrand":wc2sxuk1]You can download it from Home of the Underdogs . Wow! I am going to replay Strife! Played it several years ago last time. This time under Vavoom...

Hey, Vavoom fails to build vis data for map04. I tried standalone glbsp and glvis, but they fail too. EDIT: tried old one GlBSP 2.10 (18th September 2004) and all is ok now. (But there are strange bizzare effects on the sky on map02 'town')

random offtopic thing: system shock 2, (to what someone said), it's not being remade for doom 3 engine, BUT a mod with the same exact style as it is being made (inventory, and upgrade your body... at least it better stay true or else it loses all it's fan base)... And there's BioShock... come on, at least one other person has to be extremely excited it's coming out...
