Some level editing questions.

I have been working a bit on the remakes of the Hexen 1st hub's levels, I have made some nice stuff with 3d floors, but what is giving me trouble is the slopes stuff, I don't know very well how they work, could someone make me an easy explanation of it? I will really apreciate it, also some ideas on the Ice and Fire guardian remakes would be nice. Thanks!

If all sectors around a vertex are triangles, you can just put a vertex height object on the vertex and give it any height you want and all sectors around it will slope to it. Or put a slope object in the middle of a sector, give it the same tag as to one of the linedefs and set its Z height to something between the two adjoining sectors' height. This takes quite a lot of calculation and I don't get it too easily neither. Regarding the remakes, can you show me what you did this far (just curious)? Also, keep in mind we don't need to re-build the maps, just add an extra touch here and there to make them a bit cooler (like allowing you to actually trudge in water or make caves less angular and more curved).

Sure! I'll upload everything on Tuesday, I will try to fix the sloped for MAP01 (it will take me some time to make calculations, but I'm improving them, heh! ).

Oh yeah, regarding the 3D slopes, there is a trick to them, the 3D floor sector has to be on the same X or Y axis as the original sector for the slope thingie to work right.

I have some bad news , I was working some stuff with the maps, the PC's power surge was too crowd and there was low in voltage and I heard a small crack on the HD, unfortunately when I restarted the machine the Hard Disk wasn't detected *alas* it was fried and the new levels and all the stuff I had there has lost I have another HD and my laptop is working well, so I might setup everything again on my laptop and make the levels again. If you look the good side of the problem, I will have another chance to make the maps even better than before, and with the tips you have gave me Ramborc I will be able to make them with more ease than before, of course a lot of things have to be prepared before I start to edit the maps, like the Vavoom configs for Wad Author and the utils I was using, I have another HD for my desktop computer but I'm a bit worried about the motherboard and the other PC cards it has installed, so before I make it work again I'll do some tests with the remaining hardware and maybe get a no-brake for this situations . That's my sad story of the week .
