I have been thinking a way to implement something I really like from UT2003, the adrenaline combos, for those who don't know about it, it's mainly a counter that grows up with every kill you make or if you pick up an special item for it, once it reaches a maximum level (100) then you can make a combination of keys to perform a powerup.
What I thought for KA is to add some colored gems (crystals) to make them different depending on which powerup they give, and make a counter grow up with kills/items to give the player an slight advantage, of course we could make the power last longer depending on the player's level (just to make it fair for everyone), maybe make it last longer on lower level players to have more chances with the higher level ones.
I got some ideas for the powerups it could be something like this:
Red Gem: It could make the player shot double projectiles.
Blue Gem: It recovers the player's health by one until the counter goes back to zero, if health level is to the MAX it gives armor.
Yellow Gem: It makes the player move faster.
White Gem: It makes the player jump higher.
Green Gem: It makes the player's armor stronger to all attacks.
Purple Gem: It makes all the player attacks stronger.
