I've extracted some of the skyboxes from Heretic II, they are at <!-- m --><a class="postlink" href="http://downloads.orcishweb.com/koraxdev/ScatteredEvil/Skies.zip">http://downloads.orcishweb.com/koraxdev ... /Skies.zip</a><!-- m --> Can you add at least one of them to KRPG so we can check them in-game?

Uploaded a ZIP file here: [url:derrlrui]http://downloads.orcishweb.com/koraxdev/ScatteredEvil/skyboxes.zip Unzip conents to the koraxrpg folder in the SE installation, then create a MAPINFO lump inside the newstuff wad file you made and add the following there:
map 1 "Desert Temple"
warptrans 1
next 2
cluster 1
sky1 SKY2 0
sky2 SKY3 0
skybox desert
music bsong
You can change 'desert' by 'swamp' or 'storm'; also you can have the original skybox I made for our project a really while ago by writing 'se_sky2' or 'se_sky3' <!-- s:) --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/orc2.gif" alt=":)" title="Smile" /><!-- s:) -->. I also included the original hexen skyboxes I made, I don't know if those would be useful or not thought. EDIT: I think they all look nice.

Looking pretty good, especially if you either remove the floor texture from a few sectors or have a map with really high places looking in a direction where the border walls have been removed, could make CW's mountain town even more atmospheric. BTW I saw that there are also (again) animated sky textures (e.g. the Shadow Wood one was animated in the original Hexen, but in Vavoom it wasn't a few years back, don't know when the feature got implemented). The ones just circle around like in Hexen, is it also possible to give a certain side a certain animation? i.e. that the wind would blow from east to west?

For some reason I couldn't learn how to make these work, all the time I make moving sky, it moves too fast and looks awful. Not sure what I did wrong.

There are two types of skyboxes, the ones like Quake2, like those we are actually using in this test and Unreal like skyboxes, which use cameras to simulate architecture at the distance. I'll try to find a demo of the second type of skyboxes to show you. As for animating skies, they are normal skies (i.e. no skyboxes), unless you are talking about something I don't know about, heh! <!-- s:) --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/orc2.gif" alt=":)" title="Smile" /><!-- s:) -->

Ah you mean those animated ones in Vavoom Hexen are not skyboxes? Too bad. CW created an example of the Unreal type skybox last year with several different skyboxes in different rooms of the same map, so I have a fairly good idea what they are capable of (feel free to make further examples that might give us new ideas of course).
