ShadowCaster Tools
Mon, 08 Sep 2003 14:28:50
Folks I just wanted to announce that a first pre-alpha version of the ShadowCaster Extraction Tools is now online. It's got even a crappy readme.txt inside the zip file.
Get it under [url:1t0arq9e]http://www.koraxdev.korax-heritage.com/camper/package.zip
The purpose of these tools are, that an extraction of the enemy sprites/weapon graphics is made possible

Hey artists it's something very interesting for you even if you haven't realized it yet... ShadowCaster has 5 non-human castes, complete with in-screen weapon/claw/whatever animations. These frames might help you create the posssessed monster in-screen animations quickly and easily (then again, might not). I also want to take a monster or two out of this game for Korax (like the boarmen and maybe the red dragonkin or maybe others too).
As for not having ShadowCaster, you can download it from Underdogs. It is essentially abandonware, even Raven Software tells unofficially to go and get it from Underdogs (but not officially so don't pass on any of this info outside the team).

I've been to that site before. All I can find is information about the same, and no place to download it.

Ichor is right, there's no link to download the game...

Well there was one earlier on... for everyone who is ready to do some serious extracting work, I'm ready to let CDAccess send a copy of the game (I mean the
EA compilation).

Yeah! I'm interested on this, I may need some help using the extractor though, but I think I can extract something good and modify it for SE.

Good, then send me an e-mail with your complete postal address.

I'm not sure what you mean, RambOrc...
Thu, 11 Sep 2003 22:30:05
I think he wants to mail you a physical copy of Shadowcaster.
Thu, 11 Sep 2003 22:31:14
Yep... how should I instruct CDAccess to send you a ShadowCaster CD if I don't know your postal address?

Yes it will cost but I think Ramborc is paying for it, for the good of the project.

I've got a lot of money in my PayPal account ATM and it isn't that expensive.

You are crazy, man! Anyway, don't bother. I think Firebrand can handle the task, and you sure don't need to send the cd to the both of us. Just one artist can do it.

Well I'm rather spending another 20 bucks but have a full ShadowCaster extract - I'm planning on a project that'll need all of the artwork contained within.
Sat, 13 Sep 2003 00:48:27
I don't know, the price is a little too high... Couldn't you copy a CD for this purpouse? The game's data, I mean...
Sun, 14 Sep 2003 18:15:28
That'd be piracy as long as the game is available through commercial channels.
Sun, 14 Sep 2003 19:24:46
Even if the only parts copyed are the needed files? I don't need the whole game to extract the graphics...
Sun, 14 Sep 2003 20:03:17
Well if you would be content not to be able to play the game, I guess sending the data files would be OK since my contact at Raven told me they consider the game abandonware.
Sun, 14 Sep 2003 20:53:36
Then, e-mail them away a.s.a.p.! Best would be the sapo.pt address or the korax' one, since hotmail won't hold more than 1.something megabytes.

Well, well. I've uploaded the datafiles in a zip file: [url:1kqrw002]http://www.koraxdev.korax-heritage.com/camper/shadow_data.zip containing both demo and full version.
btw: the tools have also been updated.
