Relax guys, there's hope for civilization after all [url:2sya5irc]http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-8429232826646397510&hl=en-GB I think citizens from across the world can learn from Cuba's remarkable transformation into a more sustainable, organic society. They are, if not reluctantly, one of our prime role models towards a push to stop all this mass-consumption and wasteful, polluting industries. A video more specific to an American audience, Escape From Suburbia, is available for purchase on DVD. It deals more with what's going on in the US in terms of localizing the economy and essentially minimizing dependence on fossil fuels. Watch the video, you'll like it. It's a warm breath of fresh air after dealing with all that doomsday apocalyptic misinformation you've no doubt learned about.

The CIA has stepped in so we dont discover organic fuel, that way they can profit from us when we throw hundreds of dollars at Gasoline month.

Looks like the uploader was a third party source and got busted Well I've found another video, this one about the director of the movie talking in an interview about it. Extremely informative, and very moving too. On a personal note, I learned about the movie itself from this interview: [url:2s4uchlt]http://youtube.com/watch?v=f7i6roVB5MI

Is "The End of Suburbia" the same movie? I found this "political" torrent site: http://onebigtorrent.org/details.php?id=1408

Escape From Suburbia is the sequel to The End Of Suburbia. TEOF deals almost entirely about the false dreams of oil, while EFS tries to be optimistic and showcases various municipalities localizing and decentralizing their infrastructure.

Say, Lucas, did you download that 'Escape From Suburbia' movie? Maybe there's the way it may shared somehow... I feel rather frustrated because my download was nearly complete ; while this topic interests me much.

I rented both EFS and TEOS at a video store, but I've found a few excerpts from EFS on Google Video. If you'd rather watch the entire video and still can't seem to find it, then maybe you should do the legal thing and order a copy. That said, I found a shortened version of TEOS (original version's about 78 mins long) here: [url:2hybq1hh]http://video.google.ca/videoplay?docid=4862673521005190888&q=end+suburbia&total=91&start=0&num=10&so=0&type=search&plindex=1 And it's great that ppl are interested in this, as it is indeed a global issue that affects everybody. We all need to start thinking about our future, and our children's. We can't just sit back and let our elected leaders do all the action: we have to take action ourselves as well. I hope one day, when I am a few years older, to be able to take part in such a volunteer program, more catered to Canada, my country and my home. As the saying goes, "Think globally, act locally."

Extinction of fossil fuels is innevitable at this point, when we unlock the power of fusion, no more pollution and gasoline!

From what I know about prices, such products as DVDs (game/movies) cost at least 2-3 times as much as in my country, and sometimes even higher. (Not mentioning shipping price) Besides, you see, it looks like a kind of pervertion to me to get a movie that I just would like to watch some day from another side of the planet.

As far as shipping tariffs go, I always thought it cheaper to ship from America, in part because of the free trade agreement. Though shipping from China is dirt-cheap, they're a cheap labour powerhouse.

Me? I believe in more of a mixed form of energy grid, one which isn't reliant on a single source, because if that goes down there's no energy until it's restored. IMO, we need a healthy mix of as much solar, wind, hydro, and geothermal as we can get, and then topping the rest with nuclear. But let's not forget that energy security means more than increasing local supply: but also decreasing demand. Sadly we in NA consume a disproportionate share of the world's resources, with MUCH of it a pointless waste. And now the developing world, with a keen ambition to industrialize, is following our history by example, as there is no other role model to follow. Why else did it take us 150 years to consume the first half of oil supply, but will only take us about 20-30 years to finish the other half? Sadly, the same thing might just be true for the uranium deposits required to operate nuclear fission plants. Nuclear is NON-renewable, you know.

And to be an "American" always (exactly 100% of the time) means to be a citizen of the US. If you wanna be general, every citizen from the continent is a "North American."
