Odious bug!

If you use the mage's ruby wand, or the warrior's flechette, in a confined space, the charred bodies of your victims will block your path! I've actually "locked" myself into the upper cavern in the Caves of Circe this way (praise be for a saved game just prior to this). You can't walk over or around those round cinder blocks left when using these two weapons. Also, not certain about this but it seems consistent my games, enemies zapped by either of these weapons will never drop silver when they die (are the flames intense enough to vaporize any silver they might have?).

If you get stuck, just use the noclip cheat, get out, then disable the cheat again.

I seem to remember fixing this error before, but it may not have been in the 2.8 release. I'll try my best to release a fix as soon as possible, within the next 24 hours, else I'll be too drunk for a day or so.

So that's a bug? I thought it was normal But ya like they're saying, it does discourage the player from using the burning weapons like the flame wand and the Bloodscourge because the bodies block the player's path.

I wonder why they shouldn't block? Bodies are solid IRL

Yup, but a game is not real life The bodies don't block in Hexen. It's only the burnt bodies (the ones that all look the same when they die from the red wand or Bloodscourge). It's pretty annoying when you're in a tight space, but I got used to it. Just gotta jump around a bit.

This "charred corpse" bug can have its uses. At the end of the Castle of Grief level, when you have the Axe key and are ready to do battle with the Heresiarch, open the door and kill the first Slaughtaur in the doorway with a fire weapon. Catch him in just the right spot and his corpse will block one door open; you can jump over hiim and enter and leave the room at will but nothing else will follow you through the door. Stand inside the circular room across from the door, so you have some extra protection from the wall, and your opponents will obligingly march back and forth past the open door like targets in a shooting gallery. When the Heresiarch appears, you'll have to run in and take a couple of shots at him to get him to come to that side of the room; stand just outside the door and, whenever his defences are down, run in and blast away, then run back out when he starts to retaliate. In my current game, as the mage, I've taken out all the initial enemies, two Heresiarchs, and untold numbers of summoned bishops - all the while only using one health flask. Working on the third Heresiarch now; occasionally have to take a break and go annihilate the few crettins who materialize.
