New fileserver

RambOrc

Finally, a new fileserver up and running once again! It's on another server now physically, it can be reached under <!-- m --><a class="postlink" href="http://koraxdev.korax-heritage.com">http://koraxdev.korax-heritage.com</a><!-- m --> (if the Korax' Heritage main page comes up, wait a day for the DNS update). The data is still all on the old one, but feel free (trying to) upload stuff to the new fileserver. login name: koraxdev password: ******** remote server: koraxdev.korax-heritage.com remote directory: httpdocs

I've uploaded those last 2 maps I converted. Could someone upload the latest kmod binaries there for testing?

RambOrc

LOL the "someone" has to be Moose as nobody else has the latest runtime. <!-- s:) --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_smile.gif" alt=":)" title="Smile" /><!-- s:) -->

I can't get into the new KDev I get a place holder. KMod 2.5 beta is zipped up and ready to upload, but I'll wait for what you say about that place holder thingie. I even remembered to change the version number in the code.
Fri, 06 Jun 2003 16:51:33

RambOrc

Very good about the version number, I thought of it this morning and then forgot again. <!-- s:) --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_smile.gif" alt=":)" title="Smile" /><!-- s:) --> If you can find the engine version number, increment that by 0.1 too (if it's 0.7 then to 0.8, if it's 0.8 than to 0.9 - if it's something else, best ask me first what to change it to). I'm not sure what you mean with "placeholder", if you mean you can't access the new server under the hostname, then put following IP address as "remote server": 69.0.231.247. If it still doesn't work, just mail the beta around. Does it mean the Heresiarch is now fine too?
Fri, 06 Jun 2003 17:59:04

Moose

Yes, version number changes are somthing I do at the start usually even HeresyMod had a version number I think it was 0.1 or somthing like that. If by engine version number you meen the Doomsday version text then consider it changed if not though. I'll just E-Mail it out for now, I'll see about KDev over the weekend. And no the Heresiarch still isn't working properly but hopefully I'll be able to fix it.

The one I mean is which you see among the init messages in the console at startup. It currently says version 2.2 +R for both KMOD 2.2 and SE - for KMOD 2.5, make it 0.8, for SE source next time you play around with it make it 0.9 (it should be 1.0 upon public release). As to the Heresiarch (and any other DS that doesn't work 100% OK), just leave it out, since there isn't a DS for all monsters yet, one less doesn't make much of a difference.

Hey, I just went to the fileserver and it didn't ask me a username/password, and was able to open maps folder, only on opening test folder it asked for username/password.

sure... authentification not yet set up. <!-- s;) --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_wink.gif" alt=";)" title="Wink" /><!-- s;) -->

KDev works for me now so I'll upload KMod2.5 beta to there insteadof mailing it round. Should be up there in about an hour.
Sat, 07 Jun 2003 17:37:38

Moose

Its up now sorry about the delay if you tryed to get it earlyer I had to have my dinner. And relearn some DOS stuff.

RambOrc

Maybe you changed another file and didn't include in the download or dunno but once I hit my first ettin a couple of times instead of the DS it displayed a bunch of other graphics from the wadfile (like the fighter's gauntlets and a cleric boss, don't remember what it substituted for the other frames). I can give you one clue: the kmod2.wad you uploaded is claimed by Winblows to be last changed on June 14, 2002 (the korax.dll it claims to be last changed on June 7, 2003). So I guess it's not a new wadfile, i.e. you most probably sent the wrong one.
Sat, 07 Jun 2003 19:49:45

Moose

Ok sorted, new file up on KDev now.
Sat, 07 Jun 2003 21:16:09

RambOrc

Yep, this was only the prob - with the new wadfile, it's working fine. I tested it for the last hour or so and didn't run into any crashes or weird things, except for following: - Heresiarch DS didn't work (in the Gibbet) - the summoned green Chaos Serpents in the Gibbet didn't seem to have a DS, though I took care to kill them in several strokes only (I wouldn't swear though). p.s. regarding the new help/credit screens, I just tried and was able to put them in w/o a hitch so I'll do that to the final version, no prob (now in retrospect I'm not sure why I wanted someone else to do it, LOL).
Sat, 07 Jun 2003 23:24:18

Ichor

That's good. Even though I had the help and credit screens, I couldn't put them in without the latest wad copy, and I never could get one, heheh.

The Heresiarch DS didn't work for a very good reason, I disabled it. I'll look into the Green Chaos Serpents later today, and fix them if I can.
Sun, 08 Jun 2003 10:14:47

RambOrc

Green chaos serpents normally work fine, it was only with those summoned ones (i.e. I don't think it's a species-specific thing). What was the prob with the Heresiarch DS?
Sun, 08 Jun 2003 21:01:27

Moose

I had alook at the Gibbet and the Green Chaos Serpents changed to DS for me. So I don't know what happened. Heresiarch - It only had the walking DS every so often (on the same one, not every other try or anything like that) but it always had the attack DS and pain aswell I think. If you want to have a look I'll upload the dll with Heresiarch enabled.
Sun, 08 Jun 2003 23:14:37

RambOrc

As I said, I wouldn't swear on the Gibbet serpents, so let's assume it's all fine. <!-- s:) --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_smile.gif" alt=":)" title="Smile" /><!-- s:) --> Regarding the Heresiarch, yep just upload another DLL I'll check it out.

Right I'll do that when I get back from school so about 15:30 ish GMT actually make that 16:00.

You want to tell me Whitsun is not a holiday in England?

Moose

Whitsun is not a holiday in England. I'm sure I posted this yesterday.

RambOrc

It seems the Heresiarch DS works only in the normal walking state, as soon as he either stops to summon a spell or if there is any animation around him (the invulnerability spell or the cubes over his head), there is no DS. Regarding the deadline, I say forget fixing it for KMOD 2.5 (it can be added to 2.6 with more new DS). Does it mean the current 2.5 beta up on koraxdev is the one I should package as 2.5 release?
Wed, 11 Jun 2003 14:44:21

Moose

No I have a few things that should be changed, not noticable but could still be important. I'll upload a new one this evening.
Wed, 11 Jun 2003 15:48:55

Ichor

It's strange that it's using the original frames while the reflective shield is active, since his walking frames are the same. I can think of three things that might be wrong.There's a couple of P_SetMobjState referencing the old frames somewhere. There's something wrong in the info.c (wrong frame being referenced, incorrect frame number for the sprite, etc.). Or some frames in info.h are not listed in the same order as in info.c. That last one can cause some strange, and sometimes funny, glitches.
Wed, 11 Jun 2003 16:51:50

RambOrc

Actually, I think the first time the Heresiarch enters the invulnerable state (or maybe even the spell-casting state or the cube state), the DS disappears.
Wed, 11 Jun 2003 17:38:45

Moose

Ichor has given me an Idea, while all the Info.c/.h stuff for the Heresiarch DS is correct and all 'actor->info->seestate' and like like changed to the 'P_GetSeeState' there are a few I've just found that could be the problem. If I can't fix it by 9:30 GMT I'll just send the dll for KMod 2.5 without the Heresiarch and leave it for 2.6.
Wed, 11 Jun 2003 17:48:00

Ichor

If that's when it disappears, then the problem could be that there's a P_SetMobjState in the spell casting code that references the old frame. While that's fine for the first half, there should be something like this:
if(actor->health <= (actor->info->spawnhealth/2);
{
    P_SetMobjState(actor, new damage frame);
}
else
{
    P_SetMobjState(actor, old normal frame);
}
Of course, this is just a wild guess, since I can't look at the source code right now.
Wed, 11 Jun 2003 17:58:40

Moose

Beaten you to it and our new bits of code look almost exactly the same, and it works.
Wed, 11 Jun 2003 18:07:27

Ichor

Well, I actually meant 'if(actor->health <= (actor->info->spawnheath/2))', but as long as it works.
Wed, 11 Jun 2003 18:21:12

Moose

Well it sort of did but now I've fixed my mistake it doesn't again. Before I accedently put 'S_SORC_DAMAGED_ATTACK1' for both sides of the if. now I've put it who I ment it, it doesn't work. But I will fix it or give up and do my homework. The joys of going to school. (sigh).
Wed, 11 Jun 2003 18:29:45

Moose

It is done, all I had to do is change:
if (actor->health < actor->info->spawnhealth / 2)
to
if (parent->health < parent->info->spawnhealth / 2)
Wed, 11 Jun 2003 18:38:55

Ichor

Of course. I forgot that the actor was the orbiting mana ball. No wonder it didn't work.

Am I right in saying that you have the latest build off of KDev now. I think I zipped the right file this time. <!-- s:D --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_biggrin.gif" alt=":D" title="Very Happy" /><!-- s:D -->

Just downloaded the one up there, it has the date of June 11. Is it the latest?

Yer I think so called 25befin.zip or somthing like that.
Fri, 13 Jun 2003 16:59:55

dj_jl

I took the latest build for testing, and so far everything seems to work fine.
