Multiplayer support

The 4th Class

Reiterating that this IS the main reason we're making KA (and not just to battle bots all the time), so I'm just curious how multiplayer is going to be accomplished with the project. Modem? Online? Most of the beta testing done so far is only single player. Seriously, I can't wait until we can all get together and frag each other with this flagship, that would be a pinnacle milestone in this project.

Crimson Wizard

It uses same multiplayer support as Vavoom and Vavoom uses same support as Quake since it is based on Quake engine. I am not sure we can program anything related to multiplayer connections in progs, it's a question of how engine works. I tried to make a multiplayer game only once and failed, but it is probably because of some my fault.

The 4th Class

I think to guarantee multiplayer support, at least two of us should be online together and test it. I can't ATM, I have mid-terms all week. Probably absolute soonest is this Friday, but I'd have to install Hexen, Vavoom, and KA on this computer.

Firebrand

Vavoom supports internet games as of now, but they are a bit unstable because of the architecture of the engine (client/sever), Janis is working hard on simplifying certain things so the engine performace increases and less memory is used, this is increasing the possibilities of playing online, it has been some time since I played a LAN game with my brother, but the last time things were as smooth as possible and we could complete a match (in ancient arena), but it was with 3 bots and the detail had to be reduced a bit to have a decent framerate, heh! I would like to make tests with LAN games with the latest Vavoom version, it would be interesting, BTW, for those interested, I've uploaded a new version to KDev and a new VCC version too.
