Map scale

What is the default UI scale for maps? I want to replace the automap in dungeons with a fixed image that doesn't change, what size does it need to be? 640x480? Also, for the travel map, in the current builds there is only a very small part of the map visible on the screen, so I guess it should be saved at a smaller pixel count. How many pixels are visible on the screen at a given time? 640x480? I.e. if I want to e.g. have 1/9 of the map visible at any given time, should I make the full travel map graphics 1920x1440?

There are two ways of drawing stuff to the screen, scaled and non-scaled, right now, all the backgrounds (titlepic, automap bakcground, interpic, etc.) are drawn scaled to fit the current user resolution, so it depends on the resolution, as for modifying the automap... I'm not very sure the automap can be modified for changing what's drawn there... Janis might know better about that.

Exactly that's my question, since stuff is scaled, what is the base/default resolution of the UI for those full screen pictures? Do I just go by the lowest resolution Vavoom allows to be set?

Also, the travel map does not scale the whole picture to the screen, but displays a part of it. How many pixels by how many pixels is this?

Screen backgrounds should be 320x200, they will be scaled as needed. I'll investigate how much the automap pic should be.

I guess you didn't have time to test the map graphics in-game, is there a simple way for me to do it? Before I can finalize the overland map, I need to see how exactly it transfers into KRPG visually.

Sorry, I didn't have the time to test it, my suggestion is that you try to convert it to RAW format image and import it to the data.PK3 file with the name AUTOPAGE, then you will be able to test it if you activate the automap, let me know if you have any problems with it <!-- s:) --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/orc2.gif" alt=":)" title="Smile" /><!-- s:) -->.

I've tested with the travel map (which is a PNG file in a PK3, easily replaceable), is it the same scale as automap or how does it work?

I really don't remember the exact size, IIRC the background will be scaled if it's smaller than needed. My suggestion would be to start with a 320x200 image and see if it works fine <!-- s:) --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/orc2.gif" alt=":)" title="Smile" /><!-- s:) -->.
