If I recall, a long time ago we were going to remake the original hexen levels using Vavoom features. I noticed on the latest internal build of KA (I think its the latest <!-- s:P --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/orc4.gif" alt=":P" title="Razz" /><!-- s:P --> ) there is the heresiarch seminary for the domination game mode. I was wondering if you guys wanted me to try to add those features to it, I can bring back the old map I made, and build onto that. Or is this already in the works? Or is there a reason why it shouldn't be done?

That depends on how yours map looks like <!-- s:) --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/orc2.gif" alt=":)" title="Smile" /><!-- s:) --> I mean, would it be convenient to play netmatch on it. As for current 'Seminary' version 'I just removed some side-rooms from original map and added raising stairs leading to towers. If you have better ideas, you may show yours map ofcourse.

The map I made just had the most basic of 3d floors added to the stairs and the such... Not much other modifications. But I think I understand vavoom better now, that I may be able to make something better. And since I'm currently out of creativity for making a whole new map, I'll probably give this a shot... Perhaps I'll get some inspiration then. EDIT: I took a look at the map again. My plan for it would be to perhaps make most of the stairs in it slopes (?) or 3D floors. And in the case of the "spiraling" stairs it would be all 3D floors. Add static lighting to textures and the such that it would fit properly. I'll also take some more looks around to find what else could possibly be done. Would this be worth it? And, Ramborc, if you read this. A long time ago I also had that dock level, converted from a heretic wad. Do you still want that to be edited to become a castle sweep map? I'll be more than happy to do that as well.

The Docks is already in KA, so to use it for Castle Sweep only monster placement is necessary. As for the remake of all Hexen maps, it's for the first part of the trilogy (The Chaos Sphere), which we will work on after the second part (Scattered Evil) has been released to the public, i.e. the more maps are done early on the quicker the first part can be released after the second, but there is no deadline for those maps ATM. That reminds me, in case I forgot to say before, the FB-remade Winnowing Hall should be added to KA IMO.

Geez, Ramborc, sorry. I hadn't realized this lavalord map was in KA, I thought you meant the Heretic Docks from the original. <!-- s:? --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/orchmm.gif" alt=":?" title="Confused" /><!-- s:? --> I'm never able to get Castle Sweep working, so I wasn't able to play it. So, I hadn't recognized it until I looked at it in the editor. Is it a finished map? And if so who finished it?

There's a textures.wad in karena/textures.pk3 package in latest internal release, if you use that you will see there's a good amount of Heretic (and not only) textures. BTW lavalord is now called "Infested Castle", right?

Any Heretic (or for that matter, Hexen) textures missing from the KA distribution should be added anyway, since it's a Heretic/Hexen mod (and it doesn't load any data from any iwad, you need an iwad to run KA so it can be called a free mod).

Well, since we talk about maps, here's another thing that I started, it's a map for CTF, but I will not be able to finish it before our planned public release, so it is for later updates maybe. Name is "preserve", I wanted to make a "scenario" map which simulates opposition of elven (?) rangers versus some magicians; rangers have their base in the large house and mages hid in the caverns. My proposal is that we release KA as it is now, then we will make a "patch" that adds new maps and fixes the most serious issues (if any) <!-- s:) --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/orc2.gif" alt=":)" title="Smile" /><!-- s:) -->.

Yeah, I agree. I played it for awhile and I didn't find any serious issues. Most of the problems I had I blame my computer for. So I think thats a good idea.

I got sudden idea how t make a CTF map quickly, so I took Heretic E1M6 and made a map in 2 days by adding some 3dfloors, static lights and duplicating main area; So it's finished, only needs texture aligning and items placing. Since I feel like I haven't been doing much, which I haven't, and I'm not sure when I'll get a chance to be back on I've uploaded a work in progress of one of the maps I've been working on. I found a sketch of it I did awhile back and decided to try to build it, hopefully it will turn out to be useful. Lots of things will probably be different in the final version. Like after looking at it again I feel there are too many torches, so those will probably be gone... And I feel the chairs look rather cheap, so if someone has a better suggestion for them please do tell. <!-- m --><a class="postlink" href="http://downloads.orcishweb.com/koraxdev/Stryker/ManorDec222008.wad">http://downloads.orcishweb.com/koraxdev ... 222008.wad</a><!-- m --> I realize its rather small, but I will be building more onto it. For a CTF map I tried placing the flags down on the map. I changed arg1 to the corresponding numbers (0 for blue, 1 for red, correct me if I'm wrong), yet both flags appear as the blue teams flag... Am I missing something else that needs to be done, or is this a bug of sorts?
