Maybe it's a problem with one of your direct3d files, try installing the latest version of direct x, look for it on the microsoft website.

Make sure Directx isn't being ran by any other application, and that DDhelp.exe is running. Don't take this as the word of a god though, I'm just fishing with a broken pole here.

I don't know, but a bunch of programs I use tend to execute it.

Seems that something could be screwed with your video drivers, when running the game, try pressing the ALT key, this should make a config dialog to appear, then just select OpenGL driver to see if it works fine <!-- s:) --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_smile.gif" alt=":)" title="Smile" /><!-- s:) -->, hope this helps you out.

ahhh it was on auto and auto had 24 bit texture and that dosn't work thnx now the prob is solved but what zbuffer texture and color bits do u recommend

IIRC, the values that work on most cards are 32-bits of depth color and 16-bits of zbuffer, AFAIK zbuffer only works on 16-bits, so don't move it to anything else.

Most 3D cards support 16 or 32bit Z buffer, some also 24bit. A couple of cards can even use a different bit depth for Z buffer than for display.
