Xmas Havoc song is from Serious Sam 2 <!-- s:) --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/orc2.gif" alt=":)" title="Smile" /><!-- s:) -->, it was called "JingleMedium.ogg" originally. (c) Croteam, I suppose. (I will need to install the game to know for sure)

I've updated the Korax Arena credits with information on the model pack and some other things, please check it out <!-- s:) --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/orc2.gif" alt=":)" title="Smile" /><!-- s:) -->.

Hey hold your horses I am working on a PDF manual that should be included in the download! I'll upload a pre-version in a few minutes for you impatient people. <!-- s:P --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/orc4.gif" alt=":P" title="Razz" /><!-- s:P -->

I couldn't find the credits page, where is it? Also, looks like there are a lot of details in the Wiki already that I don't have yet in the PDF, what should we do now?

Credits page: [url:95o1fend]http://www.korax-heritage.com/karena/credits.php As for the PDF manual, no problem there, I can upload a new version with it included anytime without any problems (it seems the new changes on SF.net allow this <!-- sO:) --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/eusa_angel.gif" alt="O:)" title="Angel" /><!-- sO:) --> ). Sorry for releasing without the manual, but I'm really excited that it's finally done, I couldn't resist <!-- s8-[ --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/eusa_shifty.gif" alt="8-[" title="Anxious" /><!-- s8-[ --> . I suggest to update the PDF manual with the information on the wiki (only with info from the user's manual, the rest is there for editing purposes) <!-- s:) --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/orc2.gif" alt=":)" title="Smile" /><!-- s:) -->. EDIT: Please let me know of any additions you make to the credits, so they can be updated on the site too, thanks!

I have uploaded the PDF manual in the version it was when I saw that there is a lot more info in the wiki already: <!-- m --><a class="postlink" href="http://downloads.orcishweb.com/koraxdev/arena/kamanual.pdf">http://downloads.orcishweb.com/koraxdev ... manual.pdf</a><!-- m --> We need to decide whether we want to actually use a PDF manual in this age of internet (the obvious advantage is that it's offline, packaged with the game download for when there is no internet connection, but of course it's never as up to date as the online manual on the wiki). If not, FB can just check the PDF and add any extra stuff to the website/wiki.

As I already said, PDF is like a firm stable version of manual <!-- s:) --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/orc2.gif" alt=":)" title="Smile" /><!-- s:) --> Wiki looks more like a rough notebook.. well, at least now <!-- s:) --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/orc2.gif" alt=":)" title="Smile" /><!-- s:) -->. BTW, if you want you may change some player classes/weapon descriptions.
Mon, 22 Dec 2008 19:16:14

Crimson Wizard

Many weapons require that you reach a certain level before you can pick up and use them. On Level 1, you can use weapons #1-#4. To be able to use weapons #5-#7, you need to reach Level 3. Once you reach Level 5, you can pick up weapon #8.
This was disabled since I ever joined your team <!-- s:P --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/orc4.gif" alt=":P" title="Razz" /><!-- s:P -->

I know. I took the original KA manual from the first public beta years ago, and started updating it.

RambOrc

FB, regarding the manual stuff you added to the wiki, was it always in HTML or do you have it in some other source format?
Wed, 21 Jan 2009 16:28:46

Firebrand

I found a scrap version of the manual in PDF format in KDev, but it was from a very old KA version, it had things that we don't actually have. The rest was (re)written from scratch <!-- s:) --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/orc2.gif" alt=":)" title="Smile" /><!-- s:) -->. If you want, you can copy whatever is needed for the PDF version too.
Wed, 21 Jan 2009 16:45:45

RambOrc

What I meant is whether you have the articles you added to the wiki in RTF, OpenDocument, MS Word etc format.
Wed, 21 Jan 2009 19:25:12

Firebrand

No, I don't have them <!-- s:( --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/orc10.gif" alt=":(" title="Sad" /><!-- s:( -->, I wrote them directly to the wiki.

I am currently working on the manual, is there a ZIP or something with the bitmaps of KA (things like classes, weapons, powerups) or do I need to extract them from the wadfile?
Mon, 04 May 2009 23:12:10

Firebrand

No, you'll have to extract them from the PK3 files, remember PK3 files are just ZIP files with a different extension, so any ZIP editor will work fine for opening them. The PK3 files are separated by types of entries, so sprites.pk3 is the file you surely will want to check first <!-- s:D --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/orc6.gif" alt=":D" title="Very Happy" /><!-- s:D --> .

Work in progress viewable at <!-- m --><a class="postlink" href="http://downloads.orcishweb.com/koraxdev/arena/kamanual.pdf">http://downloads.orcishweb.com/koraxdev ... manual.pdf</a><!-- m --> , data from the wiki has not yet been imported for pages 21 and later so I didn't include them in the PDF.

Crimson Wizard

I noticed some mistakes. If these texts are taken directly from Wiki, Wiki should be fixed as well.
Development Mode: This checkbox is only useful if you are creating a custom game based on Korax Arena, it will make the game load the fles specifed and the game data from a custom directory.
This refers to 'Custom game' field (which is absent in our launcher, AFAIK), not "Devmode" checkbox. Devmode makes game print more detailed log to debug.txt.
Files: You can place any extra maps of fles made as custom content for Korax Arena. Multiple fles should be separated by commas (,).
I never knew they must be separated by commas... I always used just a single space between file names.
Use OpenAL: If for any reason don't want to use the DirectSound subsystem, you can check this box
Isn't there a grammar mistake in this phrase?

Nice work, the stuff CW notes here is true (all of it), I need to correct the info on the wiki, it seems, heh! <!-- s:P --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/orc4.gif" alt=":P" title="Razz" /><!-- s:P -->

Mon, 30 Nov 2009 19:04:15

Could you upload the ODF version of the manual? It would be good to update information on the Wiki and revise the manual (add some images to it), etc. <!-- s;) --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/orc9.gif" alt=";)" title="Wink" /><!-- s;) -->

I think that we need different KA logo. Those clownish pink "Korax Arena" lines just suck. Can we have something more appropriate?
Thu, 03 Dec 2009 20:51:39

RambOrc

Not sure why, but when I opened the updated document, a number of the pictures seemed to be off by a line or two. I am using v3.1.0.

[quote="Crimson Wizard":3cqc3e7u]I think that we need different KA logo. Those clownish pink "Korax Arena" lines just suck. Can we have something more appropriate? Do you have something in mind? <!-- s;) --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/orc9.gif" alt=";)" title="Wink" /><!-- s;) --> I'll think up something myself and post some previews around the dev forum. As for the images, I'm not very sure, I used portable OpenOffice to edit the document myself, I don't know if it might be the cause for that...

portable OpenOffice?

<!-- s:lol: --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/orclaught2.gif" alt=":lol:" title="Laughing" /><!-- s:lol: --> [advertising]Yep, it's a stripped down version of OpenOffice that fits inside an USB portable drive, I find it useful to edit documents on any computer, sometimes it's a fast edit and that computer doesn't have the right tools for doing the editing work, there is a big number of portable apps, if you are interested you can get them here: [url:20n83z8q]http://portableapps.com/[/advertising] The version I'm using is 3.1.1 <!-- s;) --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/orc9.gif" alt=";)" title="Wink" /><!-- s;) -->.
Fri, 04 Dec 2009 15:43:56

RambOrc

Ah, I thought portable OpenOffice would be a PDA/smartphone version. What you describe sounds like a more or less normal desktop version, so it shouldn't have compatibility issues with the document. Weird. Do you have access to the full desktop installation of OO 3.1 somewhere?
Fri, 04 Dec 2009 16:03:13

Firebrand

I'll try to install it on my work computer and test it ASAP.
