It is a sad, sad day.

I've finally been beaten by a piece of software that looks like it was designed by a 4 year old , yes thats right I've ordered Winblows XP (Professional Student Upgrade with SP2). Oh the horror.

oh crap WinXP is evil, it literally ate my files on my laptop (which is ntfs formatted, which is worse than fat32 imo, and makes that possible) WHATEVER YOU DO, DON'T LET IT NTFS FORMAT

Well I'm probably going to Duel Boot with Win98 so I'll leave it as Fat32. Stick with the enemy you know.

FAT32 is crap, the NTFS in Win2K and higher is definitely a better choice. If you want high compatibility, go with FAT16 parititons for everything that's important. Can be read by just about any operating system out there.

But the NTFS in WinXP home is abused When a system restore is done, I only WANT the windows folder to be restored, and not my games' binaries deleted (which happens in XP on ntfs)

Well suXPenis Home is for idiots anyway, either get Professional or don't bother at all.

I'm so glad I got Professional now, Rambo isn't calling me an idiot.

Yes, XP Home is a f***ing thing, Professional is better (and has more options AFAIK), that's why I have it installed (mainly because ME sucks more, heh!).

[quote="RambOrc":14cdorji]Well suXPenis Home is for idiots anyway, either get Professional or don't bother at all. Professional doesn't have throttling for laptops, now does it? I was stuck with XPhome on my k7 lappy (which died and I couldn't recover crap off it's ntfs'd drive) [quote="Firebrand":14cdorji](mainly because ME sucks more, heh!). You win the scary phrase of the day award (and i'm using ME also, and I think that's superior over xp ) This is even worse

It's Win3.1 all over again, yep. This is M$'s answer to millions of low-cost PCs being delivered with Linux preinstalled in these countries, because Linux is free and Winblows costs more than the PC itself. This is old news BTW.

Well it was apparently dispatched this morning, so tomorrow I'll sort out everything that's important and then reformat, full scandisk and de-frag. Then leave it ready for XP. Does anyone know if Win98 needs to actually be installed for an XP upgrade pack to work?
