Awesome set of tutorial maps with impressive examples of the major scripted actions found in Hexen's normal maps (including one I never saw before - destructable wall!). I've just found it and haven't had time to really study it, but there's also description on script language, which is something I've been lookinbg for AGES! Don't know about you guys, but I'll just swallow this one! Check it here: http://www.doomworld.com/idgames/index.php?id=6408 The parent directory also has a few more sripting resources.

You mean you didn't know Hexen has ACS scripts?

There's a lot to learn from ACS Scripts really, there are ACS Scripts that can be as simple as hell, but others can get extremely complicated, it's a matter of what you want to do, but to be honest they are very powerfull now, ZDoom and Vavoom are going to make them stronger now, hehehe!

[quote="dj_jl":3no187hv]You mean you didn't know Hexen has ACS scripts? Of course I knew them, but for a guy who never studied any kind of programming, they were tough as hell to understand and operate with. With that kind of tutorial, I think even a square head like me will be able to possibly add nicce effects to maps.

I first thought ACS is complicated too, but if you ever worked with any kind of simple script language, ACS and the like isn't so complicated any more. As all the similar map script languages, they were developed by programmers for mappers who know barely anything about programming, so the whole idea was to make it easy to learn and easy to create the special stuff needed in maps.

ACS is just complicated for the first time using it, once you get used to it (and make a lot of mistakes, hehehe!), you are done learning it, if you need any help post your questions here and we all will try to help you out my friend.

Thanks bro. I think I'll stick to sector modelling for now, once i'm confortable with it a bit more, I'll seek for the scripting challenge. My aim is to be good enough at mapmaking to actually put my own real college projects on the engine and play them!

That sounds interesting, to make one of your projects inside the engine, it should be interesting, heh!

On a side note, I have this one project from my first year that is just perfect for my skills on Vavoom maps. I'm seriously thinking on giving it a try one day, for the training. But I still have a lot of work on gathering textures and with those new magic animations...
