Evil Mage

How much health does that monster have? Christ! Also, when I kill the original Heresiarch in the Seminary map, level 13 or so with that hallway full of candles...do I get experience points for killing he Heresiarch clones? That first one warped in 2!!!! before he died! grrrrr! So I wanna know if I'm wasting my time or not trying to kill these 2 others...

I remember he used to give around 64k experience points in KMod 2.2. I killed the original one and two his clones with Cleric, resulting in gaining additional level relatively to Mage.

As far as I can recall, all boss monsters except for Korax had their HP increased tenfold, for the Heresiarch that means 50'000 HP. EXP given when killing a monster is +-10% of the HP, meaning killing a Heresiarch will give you EXP of a random number between 45'000 and 55'000. In KMOD, it doesn't matter whether the monster was summoned or on the map from the beginning, it has the same amount of HP and gives the same EXP, meaning if your Heresiarch summons 2 further ones and one of them summons still another time by the time you finish them off, i.e. you kill 4 Heresiarchs, you'll get a total EXP somewhere between 180'000 and 220'000.

Yes, it's worth the trouble, but believe me, it takes AGES to kill Heresiarchs, specially with those defense magics and the extra HPs. Lots of work.

Not at all... you just pull down the console, type MAD BUTCHER and that was it.

or if you are me you just change the spawnhealth variable . Hey I only do it when testing out the heresiarch.

That's a bit unfair!!! No, I like to kill them the old way - draw the Quietus, boost myself with some "rage" and go in there for the grudge battle, cutting through bones, muscle tissue and magical robes alike, and then obviously running away like a little girl once the effect of the bersek is finished!

That how I usually deal with them when playing seriously with out the running like a little girl, but to do that for every test I'd get nowhere fast.

You guys are seriously trying to convince me that you stay there among two or three Heresiarchs, eating those purple fireballs flurries and the summoned dark bishops' own fireballs, waiting for their defense spells to wear off, even when not in rage mode? C'mon... Any sane player will HAVE to run for cover (like a little girl) once the power is out and the Heresiarch are protected!

BY the way, aside from running from it in circles and hidding in an unacessible area, is there any other more direct way of dealing with those bloody, body seeking flaming heads from hell?

Just ignore them or let them hit you if you have enough health. They don't do very much damage anyway.

Christ..well I play Hexen on the highest difficulty..so I can't access cheats like you noobs . Well I went along and just passed the last 2 heresiarches and am facing the one in Gibbet now. God those guys take forever to kill. Used to many of those...spells that cast so much damage..whatever its called....Man I can't stand facing those guys in KMOD, they take ages to kill..and when they summon 2 more Heresiarchs..GOD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Annoying fuckers!! I don't have the patience to spend another hour to kill 1 more Heresiarch..then another to kill another in 1 map..when I could've finished 2 whole hubs/worlds by then...anyways.. I wanna use a Heresiarch and his spells...

A whole hour for a Heresiarch? Took me all of 5 minutes as far as I can remember... The good news is that back in KMOD increasing HP so insanely was a cheap temporary solution to balance the game, in Korax' Heritage we plan to use improved AI, additional spells/weapons and higher damage along with a moderately increased HP.

Dude, this mofo Heresiarch uses that frigging degensive spell so often!! I can't tell when its off or on unless I shoot, and those spinning balls around his waist are always wrong if they mean its on or off...and dam..I have to use horrible pain so many times..and by that team...he spawns 2 more Heresiarchs ! GRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!!!!!! And then spawns Dark Bishops..feck! Well I finally got passed Gibbet and now just Killed Zedek, the Fighter boss. And damn..everytime I kill a Master Boss, I go back to that Graveyard map..and ALL those powerful monstters respawn. aaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhhh. Not enough mana to and spell magic to go around. Damn difficult using the Magic wand on those guys..dodging all their blasts when 1 shot kills my mage..damn...Once I finish KMOD2.8!! I will be relieved! God damn man!

I've beaten it with all classes on hardest difficult on Nintendo 64 and I must do it on KMOD aswell but dam its fecking hard. I don't need no silly cheats or (easy difficulty) like you noobs. 5 minutes to kill a Heresiarch on Hardest difficulty is impossible. Luckily, I killed them both and ran for the portal. Fewf.

Fresh Heresiarh killing report. As I have stated before, playing with Celric is very easy. I started to play at the highest difficulty with doubled monsters damage and health (2/2), after receiving the Serpent Staff I switched to 2/5, and shortly after that - to 2/10. Well, at least I thought... Before pressing the last of the nine switches in the second hub, I had saved the game and restored the original KMOD3.cfg file in order not to deal with too strong Heresiarh. He felt in 20 minutes very easily, being unintentionally caught on top of the raising rectagonal structure in the far end of the Seminary. Hmm, I received 255k of experience? I had a look on the KMOD3.cfg file I played with casually, and it had a 2/5 setting, not 2/10 as I believed... I reloaded the saved game, set damage/health to 2/10 and called for Heresiarh again. Now I decided to play a fair game, in the open court. Well, the epic battle took almost two hours, including numerous visits to the artifact generator, and rewarded me with 260k of experience. So the game sets the health of Heresiarh before a player activates the last switch. Defeating the regular monsters at 2/10 setting is another story...

How come the public beta download isn't the first link in the KMod download section, since it's the most recent release, but is buried deep in the news posts?

My "Heresiarch Killing Report" Well after I tried a few times killing him and failed, I came up with a new strategy. My character is a mage, level 13 or 14 and my Arc of Death doesn't cost me any mana anymore... I had a agic of 290, so I was able to cast the Defensive Spell 5 times in a line. During this time, I fired one Arc of Death after the other and build a cage of Flechettes around Heresiarch. After there were no Magic Points remaining, I hided in some small corner, turned off the monitor and read a few pages in a nice book. After Ive read some pages, I turned on the monitor again and went on with my Arc of Death shooting... I needed 2 or 3 of these reload-breaks but I didnt use even one hitpoint during the epic battle. I know Im a coward

This is the kind of thing we will try to correct for Scattered Evil.

Maybe I have to add that I was playing on "medium easy difficulty" However, maybe you should make the spells cost a little bit mana even if you have a high "efficienty" and the defensive Spell shouldnt be as good as he is now...
Fri, 16 Jan 2009 21:15:31

Stryker

I wasn't here when that was added in... But I think it eventually costing no mana was the point. We'll just, hopefully, be improving the AI so you won't be able to do things like that... So AFAIK, it'll be just like KMod, with it eventually costing nothing. But I'm not Ramborc, am I? So its not my call.

One thing I've noticed fighting a Heresiarch, he won't put up his shield unless he actually sees you. Which makes the cleric my favorite character - the Wraithverge is the only weapon the can "fire" around corners. Also noted on medium difficulty it will take about six Kraters of Might to kill a Heresiarch with the Wraithverge. Plan your shopping accordingly and drop the Heresiarch without ever taking a single hit yourself.

How about the exploit in Heretic where you stand behind a brazier or similar or at the edge of a corner and you can shoot through with your wand or dragonclaw but monsters who shoot back get their shots blocked (same as your other weapons like crossbow bolts).
