General mapping questions

I got another question, that doesn't exactly fit in a Vavoom thread: How can I add atmosphere to a map (also known as fog)? How can I control the amount, if it's possible, and is there any way to make it adopt other tones (light blue instead of white, for example)? AFAIK you can create fog by typing "fadetable fogmap" in the MAPINFO lump, but I don't know about the colour thing. <!-- s:? --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_confused.gif" alt=":?" title="Confused" /><!-- s:? -->

I'm not sure about this, but i've seen color tables on XWE that sees theentire Hexen palette fading to different tones (green = poison effect I guess). I wonder if i create something similar with different tones (light blue for exmaple) I could create a "fog" effect that would resemble atmosphere, with far away objects fading to light blue, but for that i would need to be able to set a much lighter version of the normal swamp white fog...

I don't really know if Vavoom supports it, but ZDoom can define any fog color in the MAPINFO lump of a WAD file, what 4th Class posted here is the way to make fog into any map you want, but I don't know about the colors.

How about making them less or more concentrated, is that possible?

If I recall correctly ZDoom allowed that.. But I don't know about Vavoom. I was going to try working on some maps afew days ago, but I got into another game at the time and forgot all about it. I kinda consider that feature to be very nice, and think that it should be implemented in future versions of Vavoom maybe.

Yes, more fog control is left for future versions.

[quote="mago":3ijgt2le]How about making them less or more concentrated, is that possible? In general, changing the fog intensity depends on the lighting value of the selected room. Lower lighting value = thicker fog.
