Couple questions

Will KA eventually support model interpolation like that of Doomsday? And secondly, do all the classes seem to be remarkably balanced? You may have followed the progress of Generations Arena, where Wolf, Doom, Q1, and Q2 were combined in a Q3 deathmatch mod. Well, I know they labored quite hard to make sure that the classes were balanced and all. Like, they had to tone down doom's super shotgun because it was too deadly to a 200 red armored foe at point blank. I believe it did like 320 damage provided that every pellet hit the target. And with the absolutely tantalizing DM possibilities that Doom, Heretic, Hexen, and Witchaven offer it becomes more complicated to keep things balanced without making all the classes too similar and boring. If the balance becomes too headache inducing I would advocate allowing the user to tweak weapon variables as cvars and/or lines in a config file. I am at the seat of my pants waiting to ruin my life playing KA!

Pretty much every weapon's damage values have been changed from the original ones. This doesn't mean however that the game is completely balanced yet, but that's the goal without making classes too similar (in everything else except for weapons and appearance the classes are exactly the same). Currently playing each class is a different experience when playing DM against bots. Not sure what you mean with model interpolation.

Model interpolation is a technique that makes the frames of animation on a model animate smoothly. It is what makes quake 2 models animate so much more smoothly than quake 1 models. I just checked vavoom's forum to see if anyone had suggested it. The lead programmer said that the client had to support "fractional timing", which would require a netcode rework. Sounds like too much work to bother with. He did say that he was planning on improving model support greatly though. And about some of the powerups: like Dark Servant (my fav), Morph Ovum, etc. will they be a part of KA?

1) Since KA uses sprites and not models, I think this question is rather moot. 2) The Dark Servant is definitely going to be in the game as an instant powerup (picking up the item summons a Maulotaur), as KA doesn't support inventory items. Morph Ovum/Porkalator is less likely, given that it's usefulness is greatly limited through the much higher speed of bots and human players compared to the monsters in an SP. But it might make it into KA yet, it's not yet sure.

To answer your question, all the powerups in KA will work as instant powerups (you touch it and it activates automatically), due to the gameplay's speed, the included powerups in the latest version of KA are the dark servant, which teleports near battles to finish with your enemies , the shadowsphere from heretic, the icon of the defender, which makes you invinsible for some time, and some new items that are yet to come . As for balance, don't get a wrong idea, the latest beta released was lacking some balance measures that we have made, now all the classes are WAY MORE balanced than before, and the bots will work WAY better too .

Sweetness! That's very much what I wanted to hear!

The next public release (most probably the last beta/RC before the final 1.0) is expected sometime towards late Winter/early Spring, so yes you can start holding your breath. In the meantime, go and watch the 2nd KA trailer, I think it gives quite a good look at the advances since those old public betas.

It's cool, I've yet to play the Korax mod, which I shall do in the meantime. But I did think of a few other nuances that sparked my curioussity. I will watch the video. It's probably better than playing the game since I can study wwhile it downloads. I'm generally bad at following trailers, but for KA? I'm on it. I apologize in advance if any of these are answered by the trailer. So with the Dark Servant. I'm thinking that eventually it'd be awesome to have different arch villains spawn depending on the class that picked it up. You know you want a cyberdemon by your side. Witchaven would have to be ported over and different monsters invented/modified for some others. We also know why Maulators make such great deathmatching threats: they're fast, aggressive as all hell, and they have a railgun like weapon. The cyberdemon is a lumbering tank better suited to engaging other tanks with his rocket barrage. Such challenges present tantalizing possibilities for creativity though. Don't ask me why summoned monsters get my rocks off, it's just one of my gaming fetishes I guess sort of like ninjas or mechas for others. On another note we have the flechette/yellow mana system. What's great about that is: no need to manufacture UI graphics for them. I'm wondering if every class has its own unique yellow mana and fleuchette "spell". So doom picks up a fleuchette (which may not even be one in the current release or in the trailer) and maybe his attack would be a high explosive grenade. Instead of the cleric's healing being a weapon maybe it could be a yellow mana spell. With respect to morph weapons I do have a possible solution. You pick up the item and it gives you a temporary status effect. While in this state your 1st weapon is temporarily replaced by a 1 use morph ovum weapon. I'd say the graphics should be conic waves like the mages 0.2 super weapon. It propages out and is moderately difficult to avoid, but not disruptively so. I like the chicken morph best since it can glide over long ledges. Sound feasible?

LOL yes I think you should watch the KA trailer, it'll answer a couple of your questions. And if you love summoning different kinds of monsters, you should play KMOD as Mage, once you get the summon spell you can have tons of fun. Uhm yes a little hint, you aren't the only one in KMOD who summons monsters. Oh yes flechettes, currently they work the same way for two classes each: Fighter/Marine, Mage/Heretic, Cleric/Hero.
