Couple of Questions

Hello everyone, i would first like to say thank you to the makers of this for making such a great mod, I love it. Now, I have a couple of questions, I searched the boards and only found a few things regarding them. 1) Is this mod dead? I can't find Kmod3.0 because the link is dead. 2) During a net game, how come I can't manually edit my stats? It seems to just add points depending on class, from a specific table or something. 3) Me and my friend have played net games and every time we get "Net game ends" on the top of our screen. Is this a problem with KMod? Again, thanks for the great mod and hopefully I will be able to fix these issues.

Thanks for the compliments, no the mod is not dead: we will finishing a proper Kmod 3.0 release scheduled for June 14. As for the net games, I'm not too sure what you mean by "manually editting" stats, but this seems like a bug to me...

What I mean is, in the single player game, when you level up, you're given 3-5 points, to put into the stats, right? Well, in a net game, we seem to run into a problem. The points we get upon leveling up seem to be automatically distributed. Is this normal? And that's great about the June 14th release, do you still have the beta anywhere, though, so I can get a glimpse?

oh, I see. Well does anyone have any help for the fact that from now till the 14th our netgames might not work? We would really love to play the game on like the hardest difficulty and have the netgame stay connected. Any advice?

By the way, I believe the devs have been very busy with Korax Arena lately more than with KMod. If you liked Kmod, you should try Korax Arena.

i will look into it. Does it have a multiplayer co-op type thing like in Korax Mod? I really liked that, and my friend and I wanted to play the game as friends, not as enemies.

Are you kidding? Korax Arena is exclusively multiplayer!

well, I understand that, but I wondered if there was a team thing. I was playing Castle Sweep with bots and I was killing them and the mobs, and it seemed like it had only deathmatch type games.

I was just thinking of something, and I was wondering if there was a way to play Korax Mod without using the Doomsday engine included/ I tried playing it on the newest version of Doomsday, and i had "Kmod2.wad" "Korax.dll" and "Doomsday.wad" under the loaded files, and it still wouldn't work. this is only because when I try to set the D3d to window, it gives me an error in the launcher, and with the -nofullscreen option in the batch file. IF there's anything you could help me with, that'd be great. thanks.

Yes, there is Team Castle Sweep mode where you can group players in team(s) and fight versus monsters and/or opposing teams (if there's any). There's team deathmatch as well.

As for playing KMod with a newer version of Doomsday, it's not possible, KMod was using an old version of Doomsday from the beginning (0.9.x IIRC), since the engine has changed much from those old days, porting KMod to a newer version would be too difficult. We have switched development to the Vavoom engine (the one used by Korax Arena), which offers some interesting features for our RPG game , like real 3d architecture and static lights.

Hm.. I just figured out a way to use Korax with a mod I have called Vaults, and then again with Caldera. There's another mod I have, called Fury, or Carnage Galore that I want to use with Korax's awesome system, but can't figure out how to get it to work. Carnage Galore would be like a first person shooter from hell (Friend says he can't even beat it as a fighter in the normal game). I know that it uses it's own DLL, Fury.DLL and Korax uses it's own. Is there a way to use both at the same time? Korax for the level system and Fury for the levels? I can load Fury without Korax.dll but I miss out on the levelling system and dynamic enemies (The ones with blood). I'm just looking for an awesome WAD that will give me a chance to really get high levels with my char and kick major enemy butt. :p if anyone has any, could you tell me where to find them or e-mail them to me? I'll include my e-mail in my profile so someone can.. I am having a really hard time finding wads on google, as it seems like there just about aren't any, and Hexen is quickly becoming one of my favorite games. I've got a 15 hour train ride ahead of me in about 5 hours, so if anyone can help me before then, please do. :p

No, instead we're switching over to newest Vavoom release. Kmod 2.8 used such an old Doomsday version it's out of date, and updating it would probably make our heads explode, and you don't want that .

I'm thinking about upgrading it, I need to find out about the technician but for 500 pesos I could get a HD and some RAM. That should do the trick. And RambOrc, I have no idea.

Also if I use the game in the DLaunch file, does it play all of Hexen and Hexen Deathkings? If so, that's awesome, I'll have like a level 20ish char by that time. You can only use mods that doesn't need another DLL for run, in your case, you can't combine fury with Kmod, they both alter the source in different ways, the only solution would be to alter the source to include both modifications. You can only play with new maps. There's no way to play with the same character through both Deathkings and original Hexen as of now, maybe we'll find a way with the next versions, but it should need some more research on how to edit the data of the saved games. [quote="Sej":3lbvqd1h]Another question, is there a way to edit the experience table? I want to lower the values for myself to test out things, cause it's a lot from like 5+. Just wondering. What do you exactly mean with editing the experience table? when you start the game you are given various options for different stats for your character, you can select them manually or edit them yourself. If you mean the stats screen, when leveling up, you can choose which stats to increase, to a certain degree, once you reach the maximum value for a certain stat, depending your class you can't modify it anyhow. Hope this helps you out, if you have anymore questions, just ask .

What I mean is how does the game know that Level 1 to LEvel 2 needs 1000 XP and level 2 to level 3 needs 2000 XP? There should be an experience table, inside the game, so that it knows those values, correct? Is there a way I could say, edit the values, so that I could go through on the hardest difficulty and not be slowed down by levels? 16000 XP for another level that just cost me only 4000 isn't exactly fair. o.O;

What you want to do is actually part of the planned feature list for KMOD 3.0 (i.e. that you can select an experience multiplier so if you play e.g. Caldera which has 5x less maps than the original Hexen, you can level much faster). Not sure whether it'll ever be completed though. Regarding the multiplayer stats selection, this has been disabled to avoid synchronisation breaks in a multiplayer game. It is by design that the game decides in the background what attributes get increased at what level when in multiplayer (up to version 0.8 for KMOD, it was actually the default way in single player too - then again, except for me and Camper, nobody ever played pre-1.0 KMOD ).

KA is coming out very soon, but there is no fixed date. OTOH KMOD releases traditionally come out on June 14 (KMOD 1.0 was released on June 14, 2001).
