a built-in cheat?

Want to level up your character and obtain much silver? This is a bit tedious but easy: In the dungeon of the Castle of Grief, after you've accomplished all your goals there, Ettins will respawn in the cells, seven at a time (one in each cell). If you stay in the central section of this room you can run around and slay them as fast as they appear with virtually no danger to your character since there are bars between you and them. Respawning will occur about once every thirty seconds for around thirty minutes (seems to vary somewhat depending on your character). If they stop respawning, leave the room for a minute; don't need to leave the level, just return to the room with the lava floor and wait til you hear them respawning. This served little purpose in the original Hexen but with the Korax mod you can become rich as Croesus and who knows how powerful. As I said, quite tedious unless you enjoy just running in a circle hacking Ettins; so you'll probably want to save and return when you're again in the mood for "hack and slash". I've taken my warrior from level 10 to 12 and gained over 1000 silver this way. For the developers: how high can a character level up? Could he become powerful enough to go toe-to-toe with Korax at the end? (I have one save where I'm trying to discover this experimentally.) If you're still working on Korax I think this should be addressed as it presents a patient player a means of garnering quite an advantage over the game.

since reaching the next level needs always twice as much experience as you garnered in all previous levels, there is not much of a chance getting over lvl 15 (+/- some depending on D'Sparil's heart), as you normally get about a million exp shortly before or after you defeat Korax. Getting another million is so much work nobody will endure it. Anyway, why crap around with a zillion ettins? Attack a Heresiarch and wait until he summons some additional Heresiarchs, that should give you a lot more exp with single kills.

Seems to me like you're taking advantage of the engine. As for Korax, I believe his stats are fixed.

A much better way is to go to Menelkir's Tomb as a mage and head to the deep pit puzzle. Then use the defense spell, mash one of the wrong choices a few times to spawn a lot of bishops. Then just fire away with the Bloodscourge until they die. Keep doing this until the bottom of the pit is covered with gold (use the wings to get it of course). Too bad I still don't have that screenshot.

Why the pit? It's too dangerous, what with the ledge and all. I say go to the room beside it, with the brown chaos serpents. And jgf, if all you want is experience and nothing else, just take out a melee weapon and whack a bush.

Every time you make a wrong choice, four bishops appear. Hit it a few dozen times and soon there will be so many monsters that you wouldn't be able to walk around anyway. Just turn around and fire away, and if you do happen to fall off, just use a Chaos Device or the wings to get you out. You should have plenty of both by that point, along with enough health items to keep that up for a couple of hours.

This reminds me, if you press the wrong button so many times fast enough, wouldn't the monsters respawn so quickly that they'd telefrag each other?

If there's another monster in the way, nothing will spawn, unless the monster spawning has MF2_TELESTOMP. Then it will telefrag whatever's there.

Hey, you know what would be cool? If enemies could grab and use items. Like, say if a centaur started using discs of repulsion.

Man, that the exact thing I'd like to see in our RPG Trilogy. Besides, possible to make, since there're some bots item usage algorythms already

I've always wanted to upgrade the repulsion disc from an item to a weapon in its own right. When I was brainstorming my (idealistic) list for new DR weapons, it included the repulsion discs. How about an ettin that constantly launches dark servants?

The disk of repulsion IS kind of a weapon in KA, as it gets charged like other weapons, and it is launched from any weapon by using the secondary fire button. That is, once it actually gets implemented, which AFAIK isn't yet, even though I've been asking it for a year or so by now..

In the dungeon the Crettins can't get to you so you massacre them with little chance of retaliation. Short of the "cheat" I mentioned of blocking the door (that needs the Axe key, in the gibbet) so you can run in and out of that room, I've found no relatively safe way of taking one the Heresiarchs. (BTW, I have a save now in this situation, with two Heresiarchs fighting each other in that room ...so I just wait patiently til only one is left.)

Flechette is a secondary weapon too, with all 3 variations (total 4 secondary weapons this far).

pffft. i know you can gain a good thousand levels at a time by just walking around on top of D'Sparil's heart when you have twenty-five of them. how you gain 25 of them is up to you.. edit: warning. this will make gameplay rather pathetic.

No. The monsters which appear in the mage's tomb and castle of grief are "spawned" and not teleported. Korax doesn't spawn, but teleports. teleporting CAN telefrag, but not spawning. Spawning is when the things didn't exist on the map yet, teleporting is changing the coordinates of the thing, and it has to exist already.
