Oh crap, how unfortunate
Last time I recall my memory going poof is when I moved my Cyrix6x86MX200 in another room. The memory blew out (32mb stick) and eventually the cpu itself died within the same week. I didn't call it an official computer for me though, it was quite unstable anyway (freezorama). As for power surges, my linux box from 4 years back died from a lightning storm then :O (was a k6, the usual.) At least my p2 233 starts up without a problem after a blackout (it doesn't start at all with the tv turned on, oddly enough, so it's got one freaky power supply)
By the way, a card with cubemapping support is required to run it (i.e. a Geforce256 or better), so I doubt it'll run on a TNT2. Almost anything out today is better than the first generation Geforce card so it can't be really hard to find a machine that can run it.
Glad to know Stryker's onboard crap Intel video card supports cubemapping, i'm surprised (and runs as good as a p3 900 w/ gf2mx too, infact a little better)
EDIT: Just tested it on a Barton AXP3200 w/ Radeon 9600 128mb over here. Holy shit, couldn't believe my eyes it was 138FPS :O
