Forgive me my ignorance. I would like to know, if 1st May is celebrated in other countries and how? In Russia we celebrate Labour Day (former Day of Labourers' Solidarity).

in the united states it's just another mundane day, however we have May 5, aka cinco de mayo. my may 5 on 2003 was a special one because my k6-2 266 died on that day, which left me with a p100 for the rest of the year

In most European countries, May 1st is an official holiday. If it isn't in the US that's "funny" cause it originates from there.

Labor Day in the US is the first Monday of September.

it is in argentina and in most sout american countries. PD: the reason why it is not a holidya in US is obvious: there's no merchandising for this holiday

Here in Mexico it's an official day too, we celebrate the Labor Day too, I wonder, why they call it Labor Day if none works on it? <!-- s:roll: --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_rolleyes.gif" alt="" title="Rolling Eyes" /><!-- s:roll: -->
