I dug into the engine code and the reason for the experienced behaviour is that Vavoom considers you jumping while in the air (jumptime) and when walking down a sloped surface, the player is entering jumptime. That’s why it always works when first pressing the jump and then the move key, but not always the other way around.
In my experience, you can jump on slopes as long as you are standing still, but you can’t jump while running through a sloped surface.
