your keyboard...

just wondering, how do you configure your keyboard? I am playing Hexen Deathkings expansion with and without Kmod 2.8 and i quite can't comprehend how you could thought that the 'qwerty' keys were comfortable for the spells. Neither how Raven thought that the numbers were so for the items. When i played with the keyboard only y put the spells on the right on the keyboard and repulsion, felchette and quartz flask on del, end, page fw (don't remember what were the ones above). But now that i am using the mouse i use the keypad and have all the stuff around it. I mean, if i hadn't them so close they would be rather useless during the game, especially disc of repulsion...

Since you switch weapons with 1-4 and some items are 5-0, the q-t keys for the spells seem to work for me because they're lined up right underneath.

Both Korax Arena and Scattered Evil will have a different spell/item handling from Korax Mod (and they also differ from each other). <!-- s;) --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_wink.gif" alt=";)" title="Wink" /><!-- s;) -->

Heh, the setup for mine is a bit wacky, but I wanted to be able to use the artifacts easily. It's kind of funny when I'm typing out a cheat code and half of my inventory gets used up (I usually pause the game before I type a code anyway).

I got used to the default configuration of the items/weapons, the only key I change is the jump key, since I mainly use the left control key to shoot, I put the 'z' key assigned to jump, but it's the only thing I change.

That's because CG3 doesn't have a console. <!-- s:P --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_razz.gif" alt=":P" title="Razz" /><!-- s:P --> [quote="Firebrand":klujiekb]I got used to the default configuration of the items/weapons, the only key I change is the jump key, since I mainly use the left control key to shoot, I put the 'z' key assigned to jump, but it's the only thing I change. Why don't you go REAL retro and use the X key for jump? That's the way it was in those good old times (Z/Y is for secondary fire)? <!-- s;) --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_wink.gif" alt=";)" title="Wink" /><!-- s;) -->

I don't really need a console, and it would take a while for me to figure out how to make it anyway, heheh. I like being able to use something like the bracers or time stop or whatever instead of scrolling through a bunch of artifacts in the middle of a tough battle.

Believe it or not I still use the keyboard only config when playing any Doom engine game, and on their default keys too And FYI, the A key was often the jump key and Z was often crouch. <!-- s:P --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_razz.gif" alt=":P" title="Razz" /><!-- s:P -->

I guess it's just me, the first 3D FPS I liked was Dark Forces and I used that keyboard layout for all other games afterwards. Oh and on second thought, CG3 does have a console, maybe you haven't noticed yet. <!-- s:P --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_razz.gif" alt=":P" title="Razz" /><!-- s:P -->

You mean that thing that drops down when you hit the ~ key? Yeah, that's always been there. I thought you meant a screen that pops up like in KMod when you hit the u key.

X button? the old Atari didn't have more than one button or at least I remember that when I was a little kid, heh! <!-- s:) --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_smile.gif" alt=":)" title="Smile" /><!-- s:) --> . I prefer something that is near to the shooting key to jump, it helps to react fast when needed <!-- s:) --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_smile.gif" alt=":)" title="Smile" /><!-- s:) --> .

Real Life, and no matter how many buttons I press, no console drops down. In fact, the only thing that does happen is a few people give me strange looks...well, stranger than usual.
