Witchaven player character in Arena

Weapons are on 1-5, spells on F1-F6 and are cast with the ~ key. This is a warrior-mage with mostly melee weapons and ranged spells (total ~15-20). As with the Marine, please post pros and cons. Same as with the Marine, it'd be only about the player character and his weaponry (graphics and sounds), none of the game maps, monsters, textures, music etc.

Pros: - cool character in an otherwise weak game (mostly failure of the shitty engine) - would further increase diversity of character classes and weaponry - a second melee character, but this one with some ranged spells to enhance his arsenal instead of the physical ranged weapons as the Fighter Cons: - has nothing to do with the Serpent Riders universe (but still fantasy at least) - copyright question (though I find it VERY unlikely there might be a prob with the game developer and publisher, if they still exist at all)

Just tried the demo myself this afternoon, gameplay is not much fun because of the horrible controls - if this game would've come out on the DOOM engine and they'd have had some better map designers, it might've become a way bigger hit. The difference between this character and Drake (from Stonekeep) is that Witchaven's graphics can be imported with I think a relatively minor amount of work, whereas Stonekeep stuff would have to be re-created from scratch.

I'm all for it. He has some great weapons to control, and also some pretty good magic animations. One issue, though: he will not look like he does in Witchaven's games, because the palette isn't the same as Hexen's. As RambOrc said, the work to import the graphics to Hexen isn't that big (better than draw from scratch), but color distortion caused by the palette change will make it look different from the original version. It isn't exactly a Con, but just to let you guys know. Since I'm holding the games here, it's my duty to make the conversion, so this is on me.

If he looks somewhat different but still good that's actually rather a bonus - maybe he'll look more suitable for the Hexen/Heretic universe. Mago, could you scan the manual pages with the weapon and spell descriptions? I remember only some of them and I intend to use a couple for other character classes too (like the battle axe for the Fighter). Thanks.

Alright, I've uploaded the damn pages now with the bin command - it should work fine. I only scanned the Witchaven II Manual because it included the info on the first one, as well as the little new things it has over it.
