Archived it for future use, I already found some interesting textures there . I'll try to post links to them ASAP. I also found that there's a way to create a TEXTURES lump using text files too, I'll post more details on that later too.

What's the point of the textures lump any more?

Using TEXTURES lump(s) have sense only if you got a number of patches which represent not texture itself, but texture partition. If your graphic represents a texture on its own, there's no need to use TEXTURES lump.

Exactly, I'm now replacing everything with PNG textures in a PK3 file and get rid of the whole legacy stuff.

But having some small patches for windows and the like would make it easier to composite textures for different parts of the game IMO and would reduce the editing time required to do some things. But maybe that will only be required for certain things, also, this extended TEXTURE lump provides possibilities like rotating certain patches, translating colors (for colorizing stuff), making transparencies, among other nice things . Which could also come handy, I'm preparing a small document to add to the Vavoom's wiki and to post here ASAP.

I've extracted all the patches from the current textures.wad but don't see how I can extract the textures.

[quote="RambOrc":16o470ud]I've extracted all the patches from the current textures.wad but don't see how I can extract the textures. Uh. The point is that the texture in these old Id/Raven games is just a data, depicting usage of patches. There's no texture graphics.

I'll just recreate the few specific textures from the patches in an image editor then, there are maybe 20 total.
