Warcraft II expansion pack

I've bought the Warcraft II expansion pack just to find out it's DOS/Windows only. Anyone wanting to buy it off me? You name the price (it cost me about $20 incl. shipping, but you can have it cheaper).

Can't you just use WINE or some other emulator?

At the same time, I also purchased Warcraft II Battle.net edition for Mac and it also includes the expansion pack, which wasn't clear to me at the time of order. BTW the Mac version of Warcraft II BNE runs in an emulation (emulating the old Mac OS 8/9 on Mac OS X), and still works better than it ever did in "straight" DOS or in Winblows 9x. Oh yeah and I also got Warcraft I for Mac and not only does it have a 640x480 resolution (the DOS version has 320x200), it also has CD audio music.

Well I definitely would enjoy you sharing these audios! And good luck finding somebody to play with. I'd take the expansion pack off your hands, but I think you already gave me another copy of the same expansion pack just a few years ago, LOL.

Yeah and bought a new copy for no good reason - well at least I do have the full W2 + exp on Mac now.

Your post doesn't make any sense.

Especially since he's been denouncing DOSBox as crap since as early as 2004.

Yeah but your post still doesn't make any sense since DOSbox doesn't work on the PowerPC architecture.

[quote="RambOrc":2sre27jc]DOSbox doesn't work on the PowerPC architecture. Yes, it does. (In both Mac OS X and Linux PPC)

You're right, it works on PPC architecture too. I tried installing Stonekeep but it hung during the install process.

Heh, I ran Stonekeep on DOSBox once and it worked flawlessly. Plus with the GS Wavetable SW Synth as opposed to Sound Blaster, I was fucking terrified!
Fri, 22 Dec 2006 20:36:14

Yep, it installed for me too, it just took forever to verify installed files and after a couple of mins I thought it hung. Sound works perfectly, gonna try to mount the CD drive, didn't succeed yet.

I'll be damned, it's actually working.

RambOrc

Well it's not working well enough yet, so I can't really hardcore play it. This is actually another example of what's wrong with Microsoft, on a 6-year-old standard Intel PC with Windows 98 installed I can't even start Stonekeep, it doesn't work at all (installation and setup does but not the game itself). On a non-Intel non-x86 CPU architecture with a non-Microsoft-made emulation it suddenly works. Anybody buying Vista is dumb sheep!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Amen to that. <img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/eusa_clap.gif" alt="=D>" title="Applause" /> I wish I could begin to explain this, but I really can't. Micro$oft changes Windows' architecture with every single release, to the point where they're not updating an OS, but basically plagiarising their own material to start a different one from scratch. I mean, only Micro$oft would market two different versions of an OS simultaneously with different kernels.

[quote="RambOrc":30y9dsnb]This is actually another example of what's wrong with Microsoft What isn't wrong with them? Btw I never understood why winxp needs a bunch of instances of svchost.exe to run properly.

[quote="RambOrc":16dv2jvh]What do you mean? I was referring to WinME and Win2000, both released at the same time, one featuring a corrupt 9x kernel, the other a useless NT kernel.

Nope, never touched 2000. I use ME on my workshop computer (basically my family's old computer; when they considered chucking it I salvaged it as my own) for working on Dark Realms. I figure a true DOS environment is more productive for what I need than an emulation. And sadly the new family comp only uses XP because my less software-educated family members seem content with it, even though it's continuously restarting after every boot so you can't even reach your desktop. O yes, and I'm also happy to report I've ordered a Debian installation package, so hopefully my Laptop will be dual-booting in a few days.
Sat, 23 Dec 2006 14:11:08

RambOrc

Win9x/ME has no "true DOS environment", it's actually less compatible with MS DOS 6 than DOSbox which is a 100% emulation.

As for DOSBox, it's a very cool program! I can run very old games on almost anything without problems , and you should know that I've got a lot of floppies laying around my desktop filled with old stuff, I'll organize them all and burn a single CD of them (it'll take a while ).

[quote="The 4th Class":ftidlxfh] And sadly the new family comp only uses XP because my less software-educated family members seem content with it Due to the fact that my family computer (the only one, heh) is 6 years old, my sister wants to upgrade the HD, RAM and other stuff, including infecting my computer with XP
