Unholy Cleric?

i was playing Kmod as the cleric today and something occured to me. ever notice how most of the cleric's weapons seem very.. evil? think about it. he has a life-draining poison-ball throwing snake staff, the power to call up hellfire to strike his foes, and a miniature crucifix adorned with skulls and summoning dead people to gore his foes messily!! the only thing i can think of that makes sense for him is his mace.. *smack* amen. Edit: now that i think about it though, it's pretty hard to have "good" ways to slay armys of evil.. though, divine lightning would be handy.

As always, weapon that is blessed by a God are fair, weapons that are not blessed by God are evil. It is a foundation of religious fanatism. Weapons are TOOLS. Only man may be good or evil.

I rather may call myself "empirical agnostic"

Sounds more like Niezschist nihilism to me.

Well, I didn't believe it (from AD&D rules) but the other day I saw some History Channel doc and they actually said Bishops, Popes etc used maces for exectuions, punishments or even battles, because somehow beating someone's bones, organs and tissues to a bloody pulp isn't as schocking and "unholy" as sheding blood? People come up with some very "interesting" reasonings when they need it... Hmmm... Guess you guys are reading your share of Thus Spake Zarathustra, no? BTW, always wondered how it would be to read it in original german, there was a time I was very frustated by the suspection my portuguese version might have butchered the meaning of most of it. One day I'll learn german and read the original text!

Yep, nearly all of Niezche's clever play on language and puns are lost in translation.

Obviously starting with how to spell his name, which is Nietzsche.

So I type too fast. I'm no philosophy major, but I really love his slave morality theory. Reminds me a lot of current issues where the "authorities" of the world run off and wage wars on each other, while the rest of us just live our meager lives and ask ourselves, "who do these idiots think they are?" Kinda sad that we are the masters of the world when you think about it. Off topic, but have any of you read the works of Ayn Rand?

An American author who promoted reason, laissez-faire capitalism, and self-interest as the prime motivators of human happiness and existence. I ask this because I'm really pissed off at Hollywood for making plans to adapt one of her books, Atlas Shrugged, into a movie starring Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt.

[quote="menelkir":2rnle33v]most of the cleric's weapons seem very.. evil? I think Parias is a descendent of D'sparil. Besides of having the ultimate evil weapons in the game, have you ever noticed that the serpent staff has the serpent riders' triad symbol on it?

I thought Parias is a mage, and Daedolon is a cleric.

It's a typical storyline twist for the son to realize the evil of his father and seek out and destroy the evil rule (Star Wars comes to mind). Besides, he isn't necessarily hunting down his father, as he is (or was,) in another world. And I think Korax has a little too many arms to be a relative of D'sparil. Well, it's more probable that Parias is just a random cleric, but why should the serpent staff have the serpent riders' symbol on it then?

menelkir

well there is the fact that the serpent riders do infact rule this world, and alot of things must have been created by them.. maybe the serpent staff is a creation of their's that they hid.
