If I were a regular member of this board, I'd be interested in knowing just with what the forum is being spammed with, specially having someone who can translate it.

So here's the deal. This advertisment sais that: ...some organisation does a spamming of your message on forums. 1000 forums - $35 10000 forums - $30 per 1000 forums etc. Total count of russian-language forums: 30000 total count of english-language forums: 8000 (we're in the lucky-forums list ) Posting features: - registering on forum with profile editing - spamming on forums with Guest log-in. etc etc etc Email: dzumon@altern.org Now possibly you may understand who is sending russian spam here? People, what if we launch a spam attack on this mail? Simply - each one write dozens of emails with sayings like "STOP SPAMMING!" "DEATH TO SPAMMERS" and such?

That's probably of no use, since it must be some automatic mail box like the ones used to register on forums etc... Damn it man, why they think forcing stuff into people's throat will get them finnancial results???
Wed, 16 Aug 2006 12:45:03

mago

Maybe because we have members who have Russia in their location profile, the scan or something they di to find forums thought this was a russian forum also and that's probably why they started sending those messages in russian...

The trouble is, an astonishingly high number of morons actually act on spam and by the crap - that's the sole reason there is still spam around. If those shitheads wouldn't do it, spam would've died out long ago. As always, the problem is not the couple of twisted-minded sociopaths who do shit, but the millions of stupid sheep who go along with it.

No law will suffice as long as big money is to be made on spamming. OTOH the moment spamming wouldn't make money, it'd die of its own accord. Well it IS related to everybody using Winblows - with the latest Winblows emulation and virtualization software out there for both Mac OS X and GNU/Linux, there is no valid reason any more to have a PC runnnig Winblows as main OS any more.

Sorry to say but you ARE sheep if you mean what you just wrote. The difference between using IE or a modern browser like Firefox or Safari to surf is comparable to the difference between using electricity from a nuclear plant or from solar energy: if you are dumb enough not to care and not to look, you might make yourself believe it's the same, but in reality IE/nuclear energy is a very dangerous thing to play with and creates a lots of damage and grief which the big bullies try to cover up. [quote="CheapAlert":22ung3wr]what about Mac IE? What about it? It doesn't exist and hasn't for the last couple of years. Ever since Apple released Safari it stopped making sense and even MS did officially discontinue all support for it last year and they even did officially post on their website that Mac users should use Safari instead (this is really true).

Usually when I ask about differences between software I am not expecting allegorical answer. I guess you mean IE is less safe. But what does it mean? Leaks for viruses and spambots? Bugs that can crush my PC? You see, If I have such information, it would be a reason to do something. [quote="RambOrc":1fzbsgbz]Sorry to say but you ARE sheep if you mean what you just wrote I do not care because: 1) It does what I need and I do not need anything more from internet browser. 2) I am not going to care about such things of how to scan several websites per day. I am not living in Internet (as some people do ) and being an undemanding (and very lazy) person I do not want to spend time to fix what works nice for my plain needs.
Thu, 17 Aug 2006 20:22:32

RambOrc

Well how about this? Just a couple of differences off the top of my head: - smaller memory footprint - quicker rendering - less resource usage (system load) - security system designed with the internet in mind (M$ IE has no security concept and wasn't designed for the internet but for the intranet) - true, working popup blocking (IE blocks popups it shouldn't but ads are still popping up, their implementation is useless) - adblocker plugins available (I don't have to view banners or Flash banners unlike you) - no automatic spyware and virus downloads - no security breaches ? la ActiveX - working text scalability on websites (not even the IE 7 beta can do it right, Mozilla could do it like 5 years ago) - supports modern web technologies - is web standards compliant - etc...
Thu, 17 Aug 2006 20:23:45

Oh yeah I nearly forgot if you use IE and webmail get ready for spam... any malicious website on the internet can read out your IE cookies and determine what your Hotmail etc address is and then flood it with spam.

Haha! I've changed from browsers some time ago, and I've seen some screens of what M$ IE 7 is, it really is a cheap copy of Firefox's features, that makes sense, since a lot of people has switched from IE to Firefox from some time to now, I think that might explain why IE is so lame built in it's new version, maybe M$ is finally aware that none will use IE 7, hehe!

Sat, 19 Aug 2006 07:39:14

The 4th Class

RambOrc, I don't mean this as a personal attack on you, but in my honest opinion, people who snob and pompously boast at how they don't use MS products are far more bothersome than those who ardently use them. Sure, any rational educated programmer would use alternative software (I use Firefox and Yahoo as opposed to IE and Outlook, AND I plan on switching to Linux once I get my own com), but if it gets to the point where they become so full of themselves they call MS-users "sheep," I think that the MS-users would be far less inclined to switch to alternative software because nobody likes being attacked this way. And besides, what's the point of switching to a new OS if you're just going to use a Windows emulator all the time? Inferior as Windows is, you're just gobbling CPU like booze.

[quote="RambOrc":2mvnzbph]Why don't you do multi-boot on your current computer? Much cheaper. Ofcourse, but I really need extra machine at home, at least used one - simply for work (not for gaming I mean), because most of week I have very limited time when I may use my home PC (my father and my sister use it as well, and usually just the time I need it ). As for extra boot, again, maybe. But anyway all these sayings are hypothetical, since I'll have to learn about Linux first before I ever try to install it anywhere, and I do not know when all this happen. I wasn't talking about emulation but virtualization, which has very little overhead. I am in first year of the secondary school (age 13), and I haven't (and will not have, for what I know) had any sex-ed, except the ocasional video from johnson and johnson's in the statal school, which are almost a practical joke. The video (looks almost home-made) shows a kid saying "mi pene era chiquito, y ahora es grande" (my penis was little, and now it's big), and stuff like that. The impression I get is that you have to "find out" that stuff (movies of the 13+ kind, American* series, etc.), or else your friends will probably have already "found out", and, well, you find out too. In fact, there is an ongoing political discussion on whether to implement sexual education or not in public school, exactly what the Church doesn't want. In the meantime, there is a complete void in the subject by public primary (6 to 12 years) and secondary (13 to 17 years) schools. Come to think of it, the most explained sexual education was given to my school division by a group of schoolmates who chose "The sexuality in adolescents" as a topic for a monography and exposition. But think that this was given the same attention as another exposition about the FIFA world cups. *about the "American" adjective: I, until recently, refused, as many other argentinians, to use it to refer to things or people from the U.S.A. because America is the name of the whole continent. But, if I am not wrong, from what I've heard, Mexico's complete name is "Estados Unidos de M?jico", and if Mexico is called Mexico, well, the US should be called America

The reason schools want to teach sex-ed is because, quite frankly, religious organizations don't want to do it, and parents don't have the courage to do it. For the religion, reproduction is so taboo that if we had it the fundamentalist's way, we'd still be stoning women for failing to produce sons (which any educated person knows is bullshit). And some Christian die-hards (about 1% of the whole Christian population) still believe in that, and they're the ones in control of the papacy. And Count, when you said "Johnson and Johnson", at first I thought you meant Master's and Johnson, arguably the most important pioneers in the sex field. Now THAT would be educational! And technically, North and South America combined are called the Americas, not America, but still, everybody on the two continents can call themselves American. And the U.S. was named after the continent was, so after the American revolution, the revolting states collectively called themselves the United States of America, after the continent. Though if you ask me, on a historical basis, the continent should be called Europe's Bitch.

And I haven't heard any significant discussions about adding sex-ed in schoolls. I occasionally remembered one commercial from some europian or american TV maybe, our do not has such ... yet (and thank god it hasn't). There was a story of a young man who came to supermarket with his little son. His son wished to have some candies and his father didn't want to buy them, then the boy went hystericall, started to cry, shout, he was running, jumping, rolling on floor etc. A father looked on all this with depression and there was a writing on screen: "Use condoms"... I was totally shocked. For me it looked like they said "kill this child". This was like sudden flash - I saw this society, which would rather teach to use condoms and thus evade any problem, than to bring up a child and teach him reasonable behavior.

I totally agree with you, CW. Frankly, a commercial like that is too low class even for American TV, and American TV is awful. This reminds me of the abortion debate all over again, is it better to eliminate the unborn child or to cope with raising it your whole life? In my personal opinion, I'm pro-choice, I believe that yes, if a couple are so negligent and stupid to misuse a contraceptive, think of how negligent and stupid they would be to the child. I say children should only be born if their parents actually wanted the child, because the parents would most likely be in the best financial and emotional situation to nurture it, and the child would overall live a happier life. As for the screaming child, this is a classic example of why disciplining children has gone so horribly wrong. I'm sick and tired of everybody complaining here that children behaved much better before the 90's than they do today, because spanking and corporal punishment was acceptable and legal back then. Children have always behaved badly because that's how they were taught to get what they want as babies, when all they could do to communicate was cry and throw tantrums. Parents in this age seem to think "disciplining" means "punishing bad behaviour," when in reality it means "guiding and shaping behaviour." I could continue, but frankly this issue constantly pisses me off too much. PS CW are you a sociology student? America as a whole continent got his name from Amerigo Vespucci, and whether it's singular or plural doesn't matter, an American is basically everybody who lives in any of the states on the continent, but in common US usage it refers only to citizens of the United States of America.
