Some issues

When i play, there is no sound for some reason, i've tried to move the sound bar, checked it in the ini file too, tried reducing to 11khz, and turning of 3d sounds, i also turned up my speakers sound to max, but i don't hear anything! The music works well though, and i've never had such problems with any other games before. The lack of sounds makes the game unplayable for me, paired up with the menu bug, which crashes the game if i do something twice or 3 times in the menu (especially save...) This is really annoying and i have to quit and restart the game in order to be able to save as much i'd like. But this doesn't only happen when i save, happens also when i load, or start a new game for 2nd, or 3rd time. Except these i have nothing against this mod. (except for the lack of multiplayer but i can live with that <!-- s:oops: --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/orcdeb.gif" alt=":oops:" title="Embarassed" /><!-- s:oops: --> ) Btw how's the progress with Korax RPG? any estimated release date? <!-- s:P --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/orc4.gif" alt=":P" title="Razz" /><!-- s:P -->

There are some issues with sound in the KMod beta, we have been busy with other projects, so not much work has gone into KMod, but I don't think the problem is too difficult to fix. Progress it's smooth, but it's still a while for a public test, even a public beta, heh! <!-- s:) --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/orc2.gif" alt=":)" title="Smile" /><!-- s:) --> When we fix some issues, we'll be sure to post some new screenshots in the news, stay tuned.

I'd really like to play this mod but I just can't play it like this. No sounds makes me not hear important things, which probably lead to my death, and the game also feels so empty. Secondly, I have this weird issue, look: <!-- m --><a class="postlink" href="http://img355.imageshack.us/img355/2419/cyanty9.png">http://img355.imageshack.us/img355/2419/cyanty9.png</a><!-- m --> It forces me to play without the hud (not statusbar) because the cyan colors hurt my eye. Also, i believe previous versions had 3d models, why did they get removed? Since the time i posted this i also have a fresh and new windows installed so i don't know why is this, I don't have any problems with any other EFFING game, just this mod. HALP EDIT(I use this thread as it's about to get attention anyways): A bug: Go fight a serpent, any type (green/brown) don't kill it, just stand in front of it, so it sees you. Now, crouch. As long as you are not in melee reach of it, you are safe. This is not engine limitation, zdoom has it fixed. Another bug: Try the quicksave feature. First it will ask which slot to use (i think it should use an own slot for it, and not from the already poorly limited list!) Afterwards when you use it, it will ask if you really want to quicksave or not (i think this is gay actually, that pause makes me mess up) so if you press Y (yes) then it will quicksave, and pause the game, which you cannot unpause with the pause button, but only if you open and close the menu. This is pretty annoying too.

The Chaos Serpent bug is in since 1.0, it's because the crouch feature used in KMOD is not an engine feature as in other games, monsters don't know you have crouched.

That's a shame <!-- s:( --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/orc10.gif" alt=":(" title="Sad" /><!-- s:( --> I did not participate in this particular project, but I think I'll try to make a quick patch if possible maybe...

About the sound. DirectSound works perfectly for me in Windows, however A3D does NOT. Thus, if you can use DirectSound on your system, try deleting Kmod3.ini then selecting it in the initial setup menu.

Also, try switching 3d sound on and off to see if that makes a difference for you, IIRC some soundcards work differently with it on and off.

Dancso

Didn't remember there was an option to select sound and renderer on "first start" or when removing the ini file.. It seems long ago I chose the A3D option :\ weird thing that now as i switched back to directsound, the game would crash with 3d sounds turned on, even though it seemed to work in different games (for example half life) Nevermind, I can live without 3D sounds, thanks for helping me out <!-- s:) --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/orc2.gif" alt=":)" title="Smile" /><!-- s:) --> Btw my sound card is integrated.

Well, I am not a big specialist in rendering/sound, so I am afraid I cannot help you with that; at least for now. Then, I was able to hack the source and made a separate quicksave slot and quicksave/loading work without asking questions. <!-- s:) --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/orc2.gif" alt=":)" title="Smile" /><!-- s:) --> Question is though, should game ask question if you want to load it, just in case? Also, I think I got myself accostomed with kmod3 code a bit, so if there are any other minor bugs found I would be able to fix them as well. I want to see how serpents/ducking bug can be fixed, then perhaps we can release a patch.

\o/ A little weird thing i noticed that every sound seems to play full volume, i hear serpents' roar a mile away for example. :\ Pretty annoying because if there are lots of enemies i hear a lot of growls at a time full volume. :s The current version is a beta anyways, so finishing it up wouldn't be too bad :s Don't forget to try and look at the mage saving problems -- If the player tries to save a couple of times without restarting the game it crashes. It seemed to happen mostly only with the mage though.

Is that with 2.8 or 3.0b?

I'll start with the problem about the HUD, what you are playing is actually an internal beta which should have never made it to the public, so I wouldn't worry too much about little glitches like that they shall be fixed in a final release. In this particular case the cyan is caused by .jpg compression, I've already cleaned the image up and saved it in an uncompressed format. And as for the quicksave problems, I spotted this myself and it's currently fixed on the version sitting on my hard drive. And the sounds playing at full volume all the time, is currently on my list of stuff to fix, unfortunately it's not part of my own code, I can only assume it's something Janis tweaked when making some huge improvements to the version of JHexen we use. It'll be sorted soon though, because it annoys the hell out of me.

(Sorry for double post, but its better than posting a new thread) I noticed by accident that pressing Z reveals some information about spells... but the game crashes if i try it with higher level spells, only works for the first spell each class. It also nastily reset my display frequency to 60hz, oww my eyes! Here is the log although i'm sorta sure it doesnt help

Honestly speaking, chances for any futher patches for KMOD are quite low. Can't say for the rest of the team, but I personally am working on finishing KA release; and guy who was working on KMOD doesn't seem to be much interested anymore.
