Sheild?

i was thinking about how you could use the centaur's sheild as a centuar with the mage in kmod, and i heard a rumor about the witchhaven guy being able to use a sheild. will the fighter or cleric be able to use a sheild? or maybe a secondary thing where you can use your current weapon to parry melee attacks?

There's already something similar to the shield in original Hexen, though: it's called the Icon Of The Defender.

KA will feature a shield for the Witchaven character, it already works now <!-- s:) --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_smile.gif" alt=":)" title="Smile" /><!-- s:) -->, but for SE shields will surely work differently, they'll have a certain number of hits or something like that to determine their duration. I was already thinking in something like this for the KA shield, but I'm not sure yet how to make it work correctly.

awww, it's going to have a duration/durability? i wish you could just hold down a button to hold up your sheild.. at least, for parrying such a system would be unnecesary, just make it neccesary to hit the button in the nick of time. like having maybe a 1/2 or so second long duration of blocking, and being unable to block right away after. because we all know, if an Ettin sees you hold up your sword in a position to block it's mace, it's gonna swing a different way. but if you hold up your sword while it's in mid swing, it can't stop. also, if doing it this way, would it result in them having a longer time before attacking, like an opening would be when you knock someone back in some games? wow i said a mouthful.. well, typed a mouthful. or, rather, typed a textbox full.

In my opinion you approach the problem form the point of view of singke developer, as you were when was creating DR (or EG). Such things as Shielding may be implemented by programmers, while storyline and character development is a matter of designers' work. By the way, nobody prevent you to start developing RPG side just now. <!-- s:) --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_smile.gif" alt=":)" title="Smile" /><!-- s:) -->

Our team is so small we can discuss these matters together. Then again, if you just want to make a shield, and everybody else just focus on their expertise, then I can be the writer for this project. <!-- s:D --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_biggrin.gif" alt=":D" title="Very Happy" /><!-- s:D -->. And not just "the story so far," but throughout the game. I feel a bit slack anyway just writing songs.
