Shadow Wood switch

Beneath the temple in Sahdow Wood is the teleport to the Caves of Circe. When you first enter this area the floor and ceiling smash together briefly then come to a stop with a very uneven floor. There is a switch to the left of where you enter which returns the floor to normal. I've noticed when playing the Korax mod that this switch isn't available when playing as the Cleric. It shows on the map, but all that is there in the game is a bare wall (though the cleric doesn't "grunt" when you try to activate it as he does for a normal wall and swinging your mace against it produces no sound). Is this normal for the Korax mod or have I fallen into some arcane glitch? (I've played through as the cleric twice and this has happened both times; playing as the mage or fighter has the switch present.)

You know, all this time, I never even knew that switch was there. I would just jump around the platforms and get those artifacts before moving on. Anyway, I tried it on Korax mod and it worked.

I never noticed any switch, at least in hexen, because I always run to get the Urn hoping not to get crushed, and then go for the exit very quickly. I never even look at that room again.

It works fine for me too.

I never even look at that room again. The switch is there in Hexen, and works for all three characters. Look for it on the map, you'll have to jump down and back up on the uneven floor (be careful of a crevice there), then jump down to a small ledge with the switch on the wall. Pull the chain and the floor and ceiling return to normal.

While on the topic of switches (just a question, not a problem) - when you first enter the castle in the Darkmere there is a switch on the left wall that apparently does nothing (not the switch outside that opens the castle, this is inside on the wall under the ramparts). You can pull the chain every time you pass, unlike most such switches the "stay pulled", but I've never been able to ascertain anything happening. Does this activate something on some far off level or is it an unused item which the developers neglected to remove?

That switch does the same thing. I guess they put it there figuring that you might somehow end up inside the castle instead of at the start of the map.

It's there for deathmatch.

I thought about that, but I figured they would hide it for single player.

You can't with the Hexen engine I thought.

Huh? Coudn't there just ba an open ACS script that detects the type of game and lowers the switch's sector to hide it?

Other than noclip or deathmatch, I don't think you can. At least not until get the swamp key and warp to the map from one of the other two maps, but by then the floor is already lowered anyway.

Of course if you had the knowledge to get there by those means you wouldn't need the switch anyway. At least now I know its function - it's an appendix. Thanks.
