anyone played the demo yet? Quite impressive even if it runs like total balls on my fx5200

How much memory is required to run this? ? I want to upgrade my graphics card, so I had to sell my old video card with 128 MB RAM, but I have been really busy with other things and I hadn't been able to buy a new card yet. As for the game, it looks very good in the screen I've seen so far, and it's a game I've been waiting for too .

Loading speed's and caching is fine on 512mb, it's just my lame gfx card (the fx is possibly the worst gfx chipset of this decade) My previous Radeon 9500 that was only used for 5 months had died

I've seen the requirements of the demo, it's not that heavy, I'll download it and give it a go then .

I was able to download the demo, it doesn't looks as awesome in my computer, since I've got a crappy 64MB card for now, but I can at least play at turtle speed , hehe! The game has some cool additions for the Doom3 engine too!

Just finished the demo. It's really impressive. Can't wait to get the final version. BTW Runs very well on Linux with Wine (but being Doom 3 based game it's not surprising). With all highest settings runs at 15 FPS

Which graphics card do you've got Janis?

It's a GeForce 6600GT, PCI-Express version.

I have GeForce 6600 GT too and I've got decent play quality using medium settings with an average of 30 fps (actually fps varied from 15 to 70 in different locations). And, well, heh, the game is very funny. I cannot say there's many absolutely new and original things, but I never saw such features like gravity-shifters in serious quake-style games, only in crazy arcades like "Serious Sam". I also wonder, if that scene with player's minituarization really uses miniaturization, or it is just a fake like sending player to absolutely different location, where all the sizes are correspondingly increased? (I haven't yet passed all the demo, made a pause on the 'Rites of Passage') EDIT: well, tried High quality video and found out that it still runs good. (sometimes even up to 45 fps). The only scene where I got real slowdown was the "desecrated" bar in the end of the demo game, but it lasted for several seconds only. ...about turtle speeds, heh, I remember myself playing "Return to Castle Wolfenstein" with not very fast graphics card (and unsufficient RAM), having 7-8 and sometimes 3-4 fps in large levels... but I walked it thru,

When I just got the Doom3 Demo it also ran at turtle speed for me, I tried playing, but there was a point where the game was unplayable, you could see monsters sorrounding you and the next frame you were splattered all over the floor . That's why I bought a new card, and today I might buy a 512MB card , heh!.

512 wow, that will rock my card has only 128 mb.

I hope you know that onboard card memory is important only so far as it has be enough for the chosen resolution and quality setting. After that, it's the rest of the architecture that matters. Buying anything but the latest top of the line models is pointless if you want 512 MB onboard RAM. E.g. a Radeon 1800 with 256 MB will in most cases be faster than a Radeon 1600 with 512 MB (if there would be such a configuration).

I bought a NVidia GeForce 6600 GT AGP version, it has 256MB RAM, saddly I found that the rest of the video cards need PCI Express port, and I don't have one so I had to buy this one, the GeForce 6800 had DDR3 memory, but the price got away like a mountain , so I decided for this one, it's actually very good, I can play Quake 4 at 1024x768 with most effects on and I don't have any critical issues, which is cool, I'll replay the game whole game to test it out, heh!
