New travel map

Check this screenshot: [img:2tameg8q]http://orcishweb.com/downloads/koraxdev/ScatteredEvil/travelmap_new.png[/img:2tameg8q] With the export size I chose, the player sees about 1/4 of the province in either direction (i.e. 1/16 of the total area) at any given time, this feels about right to me. Given the scale, you can see that the lines in the travel map editor won't have to be very precisely drawn, which should be an advantage. As discussed previously, I think it'd be better to visually change that - there is no black underline (i.e. you only see the colored line showing your progress) - there is no "history" (i.e. you only see your travel progress since you last entered the travel map from a 3D location) - the progress line is the red you currently use for old waypoints

I don't remember I did that. Or it was Firebrand who did that? :/ I also need to know if there's a recent SE release somewhere, so that I could have latest resources and stuff.

Hmm, there seem to be some errors in krpg code related to incompatibility to recent vavoom changes or something; guess it wasnt updated yet. It will take a little more time....

I'll get to it this weekend, when I travel back to Mexico City , I'll also try to take a portable media with KH stuff stored on it, but I won't make any promises on that .

You mistook discovering new roads and map entry points for travel "history". In fact there were no history. Well, I will simply made roads and entries dont be drawn, and change travel progress color.

Yep, it is enough to show the player at the new intersection he arrives at in which directions he can travel. Regarding the blinking of the arrow, it should start with the "on" phase, since currently it's easy to think your first cursor key hit wasn't registered, but I tested a number of times, it always does, it's only the blinking that starts on the "off" (dark) phase and thus it looks like nothing reacted to you pressing a key.

Well, I did everything; animation speeds required changes because Vavoom now uses different fps rates.

Very nice, is there a build I can download?

Hm I extracted all files over the current krpg dir, but it still has the old travel map visuals.

[quote="RambOrc":15upzh53]Hm I extracted all files over the current krpg dir, but it still has the old travel map visuals. I just dled it and tested, everything works Check if you unpacked it correctly. Package includes KRPG root folder already. Havnt you put KRPG folder into existing KRPG folder, for example?

Weird, I re-extracted the same files over the same directory again and it's now different. I've seen this strange behaviour with Filzip a couple times in the past. Anyway, I could now test it in-game and the travel map is now 99% perfect. (100% would be if the "you have arrived at blah blah, want to enter?" text would have a background that's wide enough or maybe no background, just a text color that makes it stick out from the background, if you check http://orcishweb.com/downloads/koraxdev ... rybdea.png you may be able to determine a text color that's standing out everywhere on the map)

I think a box encasing the text would be better , I'll be traveling back to Mexico tonight, so tomorrow you can expect a new build with the latest SVN revisions in place.

Make sure to have all of the new travel map updates in that build or nobody will want it.

Here is the final version: http://orcishweb.com/downloads/koraxdev ... _final.png Next I'll add names all over the map, then export it at different sizes for download and effective use (both for development and for playing the game).

Sahadia commented on the map, he says that it makes it easier for him to create stuff if we mention the names of the places and some small description of them (which are the most rich places, things like those ).
