Korax site

Next week, for the release of KMOD 2.2, I'll take the Korax site to the next level. It's a rather unwieldy stuff currently, it needs FTP to change stuff and if a menu item is changed, several pages have to be uploaded. While it'll look pretty much the same, the new design will be much more modular, making it easier for me to manage the pages. Also, I'll set up news pages with a script to which all of you will get access. That means any of you has anything about the project to report to the public (things like the damage skin frames for a new monster have been completed, a new map was started upon, a new feature has been coded, etc.), you just log in from anywhere on the web and create the newspost in a minute or two. Automated processes and categories will make the news appear on both the main page (all news) and project-specific news in the corresponding sub-sections. This should make the site become much more alive and ppl will see easier what our current progress is. And since it won't be tied to me any more, the constant time probs I have lately won't hamper updates. This is the occasion to change anything else regarding the site as well, so pls bring forth here any suggestions as to what should be different in the future. Besides above-mentioned changes, we already decided upon laying the KMOD and KMOD2 section together. I'll also rework the Development History section, making it truly what the name implies (earlier on, it was a lame excuse for a hidden newspage). I'm awaiting any and all suggestions (or questions or whatever) up to the evening of next Monday.

Well, that's cool. I think a little progress counter would be interesting, to let people know how far are we. It can be found in lots of T.C. sites (like this http://www.planetduke.com/awol/frames.htm). The news idea is very good too. Anyway, I think you should also update the features planned for SE, so people can be amazed by them. And maybe a little plot that show what the mod will be about.

Yes, a progress indicator sounds cool.

Progress indicator: if someone makes all the graphics and someone is ready to update the percents all the time, I'll create the web part. As for the rest, I'm finished with the new backend as such and am currently rewriting the history section, then I'll merge the KMOD and KMOD2 sections, afterwards some smaller fixes and it'll be ready. It'll be done simultaneously with a server move, all should be done by next week.

RambOrc,Since you won't take a look at your mail box soon, as always , I ask you to tell how can I add screenshots to any news, and what can or can't I say in them. Could I talk about new features, etc? I would like to put some frames of wounded enemies for the people to see. But if it's too complicated, could you put them up yourself?

I *do* read my mails, I just don't answer them. Seriously, I read mails within 12 hours on average (24 hours longest unless I'm away for several days, which happens maybe 3-4x a year). But you're right in one thing, I might not have answered it this week. This time at least I've got a very good excuse, I've been working on finishing up the screens for KMOD 2.2 yesterday evening and will have to upload stuff / change pages / announce it everywhere, all today evening after 23:00 when I get home (and I'll have to get up at 6:00 Saturday ). The upload utility will be around in a week or 2, until then you won't be able to add the shots. As for what to tell people and what not, if you're not sure just ask me in mail or in the forums, I guess.

Well, forget it then. By the way, will Kmod 2.2 be out today? I really want to play a little, man.

Hey, what about instead of talk about features in the news (running the risk of saying something wrong or that shouldn't be said), you could do a detailed list, or at least a more complete one, which would reffer to all features that'll be implemented in SE, would it be in the engine, the graphics or whatever (since you are the one who have them all planned). It would be good for the people, who would know what to expect, and it sure would make them more anxious about it.

Once the design guide is in any shape, the feature list will be automatically in our hands. Censoring such an existing list will be a quick task, I guess, so let's keep it back until then.

Hey Mago, until the admin center for the Korax site is finished, just send me the screenshots you'd want to post, I'll add them to your newsposts. Send the image in JPEG, 640x480, high quality (70-80), and the thumbnail in low quality JPEG (around 30), 160x120 pixels.
