Patch 1.0.1 http://downloads.orcishweb.com/koraxdev ... _1_0_1.zip Please, test and tell if the crash is fixed.

I tested it out a bit, the marine crashes appeared to have been gone, as well as the CTF crash. But I haven't tried football yet. The only other error I found as of yet is that when a bot/player with a flag is removed the game crashes. I have not even tried networking yet, but if it is possible for a player to disconnect due to lag or a crash of his own (or maybe just leaves, I dunno) this could cause problems for the remaining players. Perhaps just make the flag reset if the player is removed/disconnected? I'll report any other errors I find, if any.

Heh, wow, this is something I never thought about thanks for pointing out, I will fix this and then ... what should I do then? How should I upload this to our release list on SF? Does anyone here know?

Glad I could help But I'm afraid I don't know what to do about SF, I've never really used it. Should ask Firebrand how to do it when he gets back.

I uploaded final (hopefuly) version of the 1.0.1 patch to kdev. Unless I figure how to upload this to SF myself, we should wait for Firebrand's return to do that .

[quote="Crimson Wizard":8gpw9dl7]Unless I figure how to upload this to SF myself, we should wait for Firebrand's return to do that . Looks like you figured it out. Yeah, I tried out the patch and everything worked out good. So good job, CW. Another quick suggestion for perhaps a future patch, would be to make a timer on how long the flag stays on the ground (If this is not already implemented, I did not wait long enough to find out). If I recall UT had that as well.

Patch 1.0.2 is on kdev: http://downloads.orcishweb.com/koraxdev ... _1_0_2.zip Please test. Firebrand should put fixed Ratchet map there, I suppose. If you do, please also add corresponding commentary into text file (inside package). If everything is ready, patch can be uploaded to SF.

Firebrand

I'll test it out later today and put the fixed version of Ratchet map .

So?

Done, I've been looking for a way to make an installer for our projects, so I found NSIS, an easy to use scriptable installer system, I've uploaded this patch in installer form, let me know what you think of it , you can find it here: [url:2tedk1rm]http://downloads.orcishweb.com/koraxdev/arena/ka_patch_1_0_2.exe I think it looks fine, but maybe we can make some graphics for the installer at some point too .

Say, is there a point of having ALL the maps put in this patch? Also, you did not make a notice in readme text that Ratchet map was fixed.

Firebrand

I did compress sidedefs on the maps to make them load faster, so that's why all the maps are there, I forgot to update the TXT file there, which is OK since I made changes to the armor pickups to increase the armor points given to them, so that picking 1 of each class will give you 200 armor points, I'll reupload it to KDev, if everything is fine, then I'll properly make the release too . I'm packing also a 1.0.3, which is going to be internal only, it has the latest Vavoom revision and runs very good compared to 1.0.2, but I want to test it further to avoid serious bugs or anything else.

[quote="Firebrand":1brw409f]I made changes to the armor pickups to increase the armor points given to them, so that picking 1 of each class will give you 200 armor points, What for?? Are you sure it's okay to do that change? I think it will make things boring a bit.

Firebrand

I felt like armor was a little bit useless the way it worked before, I think it's a bit more useful now, it's just the way I felt it would work better, let's test it out like this and see how you all feel with the change . EDIT: Oh! you can find the latest patch here: [url:18zmtme3]http://downloads.orcishweb.com/koraxdev/arena/KArena102_patch.exe

I mean, it completely defeats the purpose of such PowerUp as Dragonskin Bracers. Wouldn't it be better to increase their amounts, but still make them be different? Say, Bracers = 200 Mesh Armor = 100 Shield = 75 Amulet = 50 Helmet = 25 Also, cannot this change and corresponding test wait for the 3rd patch? In fact, I hoped to release second patch ASAP because it fixed serious bugs like crash in Xmas Havoc mode. Another thing, can you please change description of new map added. I doubt it should be mentioned as filename ('CF_02'), but map name instead ('Stryker), because most users should not care of internal map name. Ah yes, and this map still needs intro screenshot.
Tue, 06 Jan 2009 16:49:47

Firebrand

I don't think so, most maps just have 1 or 2 armor item pickups, so that's not a problem at all IMO, if you want we can make this wait for the next patch , I don't see a problem with it, I'll add the intro screen and some text (if I can come up with anything).

[quote="Firebrand":308d3cub]I don't think so, most maps just have 1 or 2 armor item pickups, so that's not a problem at all IMO, if you want we can make this wait for the next patch Hmm, well, to me this will mean rather that armor items should be revised on all the maps and more of them added if needed, or their class changed to more powerful. Because as I said it would be boring to have all of them be the same.

Sorry, i've been busy with other things lately. I've been trying to do this. Although, I will be unable to name the map (another fine example of my lack of creativity ) so... If its needed i'll get the intro screen later today, most likely.

Helmet: 40 A.P. Amulet: 20 A.P. If you pick up 1 of each of them they'll give you 200 A.P. (pretty much like original Hexen, where picking one of each would give you the max armor class for your player class) . OK... I'll upload the correct patch file this afternoon, after i get home from work, I'll also include the fixed version of Stryker's map too.

I don't understand... When trying usout my map, there is an error saying that CF_02 isn't a valid map. I looked in the MAPINFO, and it appears that it should work fine. I looked in the maps.pk3, and its there... I even loaded it up in DoomBuilder. I'm not sure what causes this problem, I tried it as both a DM and CTF game. .... Stupid map. I officially am not proud of this one.

Darn it! Seems like the GLVis data or GLBsp got screwed up , I'll upload a fixed package tomorrow , I'll stop doing it as an executable file, let's just use ZIPs for internal releases, then we can manage to make the final public files as distributable installers .

[quote="Stryker":3i550xov] When trying usout my map, there is an error saying that CF_02 isn't a valid map. When game sais some map is not valid, in most cases that means that GL data (vis/bsp) does not correspond to actual map. This could happen if the map was edited after building GL data and the last was not updated. Usualkly you can simply open the wad in wad editor and delete all lumps which names start with GL. (but better have updated GL data ofcourse).

My map still doesn't work... I haven't tried anything else out yet, I'll get to that in a couple minutes.

Stryker

I tried deleting all the lumps that start with GL from my map. It still won't load even without them (and without them would be what I tested it with). So it must be something else preventing it from running properly. I double checked all the map info, and unless i'm really missing something it looks like it should be working. (Guess who is really beginning to hate this map) EDIT: Wow, Silly me. Its fixed. The problem was we still had the old MAPINFO, that I added, in it (in order to properly test it in KA), I deleted that from the latest file. Apparently it was conflicting and ultimately it confused vavoom, I guess. FB: I uploaded the new version to kdev. All you have to do is add the GL nodes and it should run just fine (Hopefully). http://downloads.orcishweb.com/koraxdev ... /cf_02.wad
