Elements Of Power

The 4th Class

Just thought I'd spread the good news that I'm finally in a band! Yes, the band's name is Elements Of Power, or EOP for short - I'm the guitarist . From the looks of things right now, we'll be playing mostly contemporary metal (like Slipknot and System Of A Down, maybe Lamb Of God), with a touch of 80's metal, pure punk and rock. Essentially, each individual band member's taste in music is different (You've got me, who loves 80's metal and all forms of progressive rock, the bassist who enjoys the extreme death/black metal scene, the drummer who likes the mainstream bands, and the singer, who is a die-hard Maggot if you know what I mean ). I think there's something special in this band, jamming together is a hell of a lot of fun, but we still have loads of work to do. We have lyrics, and we have riffs, but we haven't yet created one full song. That will soon change, of course. Anyway, our first gig is in mid-November, and who knows? If we're lucky, we can even record ourselves performing at the event. Either way, our goal is to cover as few songs as possible, and playing as much original compositions as we can. This is VERY exciting for me! I've been wanting to play in a band for years, and now I'm finally in one.

Thanks a lot, everybody! EOP means so much to me now, and the four of us are strongly dedicated to blowing people away with great music. We're working on a website now - I'll post the URL once it's ready. [quote="RambOrc":2angpb8k]Hey nice. Just get a buddy with a camcorder to go there then convert it to MPG and upload it to the web. That's actually what I meant, but AFAIK the code of conduct in the gig security prohibits camcorders or cameras (with the exception of any press). Still, I hope to create a music video of us later on in December.

I don't know about Canada, here in Switzerland there is no such rule AFAIK - people are taking pictures and capture movies all the time, mostly with cell phones of course.

Well that's the way it was last year, so I can only assume ditto this year. Anyway, here in Canada, no cameras or camcorders are allowed in major concerts, but so are drugs. You can get kicked out and arrested if you puff even one cigarette in a concert here.

It's the same here on Mexico, you can't get into a big concert with any cameras at all (don't know why tough).

I was indeed in a band for about a month before I moved house and had to quit. But I've been offered a place in a metal band a couple of my friends are thinking of starting.

I didn't say you don't have personal freedom, I just said you have a LOT less than people here in Western Europe. And that's true, the above example is just one of a thousand (or even more) little things... AFAIK even Canada lags greatly behind Europe in this, but the US without any question, even more so since the new laws following 9/11/01.

Sorry for the long wait, but here's the band website: [url:fwmof2od]http://www.freewebs.com/eoptub (Elements Of Power, The Underground Band) And Cheapy if you got a problem with that, go off on a petition and boycott FreeWebs yourself.

Forget that Freewebs sight! One of the other band mambers thought we should switch to Bandzoogle, so we did. And our new site is a LOT better IMPO! Keep in mind that it's not yet finished, and I'm working on a MIDI version of one of our songs. (yay) And RambOrc, you should check out the lyrics to our song "Metalheads Unite."

My band just played its first show last night, and, considering the circumstances, I say it went really well. Though between you and I, the sound quality was borderline above mediocre, and the sound crew were such dickheads... Fortunately, the audience weren't, and overall I think our set was really good. It gets better...from what I witnessed, the maintenance crew filmed the whole show, and may sell copies of it on VHS (and hopefully DVD, if possible). Those are just rumours, but if I manage to get my hands on a digital version, I'll be sure to post it on our band website for you all to check out!

Well this band's been dead since late January actually - it's a long story, but here's the bottom line: - The singer sucked beyond dispute. (The drummer and I, IMO, are awesome!) The bassist was pretty bad too, but he was Hendrix compared to this rusty pipe. - I really wanted to fire the singer from the band, but he and the drummer were very close friends, so that wasn't going to happen any time soon. (The bassist and the singer would soon become even closer friends weeks later) - Eventually the singer quit due to social troubles. So we made haste to look for a new singer. - Never found one. - Now would be a good time to note that our bassist was always an asshole, and the drummer and I were growing increasingly tired of hanging around him. - He was clueless of this and assumed the leadership role in the band. ( ) - Eventually the singer wanted back in, and like hell did I want that to happen. The friendship between the singer and the drummer had now become just acquaintanceship, but now he and bassist were inseparable. - This explains exactly why the bassist more than gracefully welcomed him back into the band. - The drummer and I both quit immediately after hearing this. Since we were the only good musicians in the band, it simply died. Well that's about 4 months of details for you. So it didn't go that well. The good news is, though, that the same drummer and I are now in a new band! There are two other members: the second guitarist, and the bassist/vocalist. The way things are going now, we are going to be a prog band. We're probably the only local prog band in our city! And this time, our singer and bassist doesn't suck. He's actually quite good, and he's a really hilarious guy. Also very smart too, especially in the fields of history and chemistry. So there you go, I'm done ranting about me!
