Well, I finally decided to buy a notebook, but I am in doubts what processor to choose. I am asking everyone and they give different answers so I ask here as well. What may be better choice - AMD or Intel? And, by the way, is there just any reason to get two-cores cpu except for running numerous applications at once?

The CPU manufacturer doesn't really matter, the processor generation does a lot more. But neither is as important as the guarantee from the manufacturer or configuration things like the amount of RAM, the speed of the HDD etc.

I agree with Ramborc, the manufacturer is the last thing you should worry about, make sure it has enough ports for connecting peripheral devices, I've heard that they are about to release external video cards for laptops, it would be cool if you focus your choice in the future of technology, this way, you'll use your computer for more time until you have to change it again IMO . I think the most important thing is that is something you like and want to use .

Ok, here what I've got: AMD Turion 64 2 GHz, 1 GB RAM (up to 4GB). Video card is ATI X1300, I couldn't find better choice for the money I was going to spend there, but it surely not enouph for such games as Doom3 or Quake4 (I tried Doom3, it run rather smooth, but most of the graphical effects were not working). It runs Oblivion very good though.

Sounds a good choice, if later you have the cash you should up to 2 gigs RAM though. The X1300 is a great option, while it's slow in heavy 3D games, it does have all the latest visual featuers without compromises, meaning except for hardcore 3D gaming it'll be good for years to come.

Another reason for not letting the general public view the DevForum, they'll see that we don't do any work, all that happens in there is us privately ripping the piss out of each other.
